Direct Support Professional - Highland Supported Apartment

Job Details: Job Location: WHISPERING OAKS IRA - HIGHLAND, NY, Salary Range: $20.00 - $21.50Hourly, DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

We are seeking someone interested in a part time position assisting a 50+ year old woman  in a supportive like apartment setting working one to one. Provide transportation, shopping trips, and other community activities. 

Available Positions are Saturday/Sunday 12pm- 5pm 10 hrs/wk, Monday - Friday 830am-1030am 10 hrs/wk and Monday - Thursday 3pm-7pm. 

What is a Direct Support Professional (DSP)?

Our DSPs play an important role in the lives of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities who receive supports from Greystone Programs. You will engage in a variety of work activities that teach important life skills to help people enhance their independence, achieve personal goals, meet their healthcare needs, participate in life-enriching activities, be active in their local community and live their fullest life possible.

No previous experience is needed. We look for dependable, compassionate people who would enjoy helping others achieve goals and independence.

This is a job where you can share your hobbies and interests with others and engage in recreational activities with the people you support.

Typical tasks a DSP will do during the course of their shift include hands-on support and instruction, providing transportation using our vehicles, assisting people in maintaining their living environment, preparing meals, administering medication, using our computer systems to document the work you do and helping people enhance their communication skills.
