1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed – Syracuse, NY (CA – TH)

An 80-year-old male in the Syracuse area is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him with light exercise and finding new activities to participate in while out in the community. He is a musician and loves music. He enjoys listening to music, going to concerts, and performing. He has taken different instrument lessons in the past and is interested in finding more instrument lessons/classes that he could take. He enjoys going swimming, bowling, and sitting in the sun. He also loves rollercoasters and looks forward to going to the NYS Fair in the summer. The ideal candidate is creative, engaging, encouraging, and willing to travel to different locations. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with physical touch, able to guide someone safely in the community, and be willing to go in the pool/hot tub.

This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.

Hours and days of work: 9:00am to 12:00/1:00pm Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Starting pay: Starting pay is $19.25/hour and increases with years of relevant experience.

Location: Syracuse, NY
Qualifications:
Must have a valid drivers license 
Effective communication and organizational skills required.
Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.
