1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed – Syracuse, NY (CA – DW)

A 35-year-old male in the Syracuse area is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him with finding new activities to participate in, identifying safety signs, navigating safely in the community, teaching him how to safely meet and interact with people, and increasing his positive communication skills. He loves to go out in the community and people watch. He enjoys going to the mall, the park, and the library. He enjoys car rides and likes to go to the fair, festivals, and dances. He loves to eat and will try anything once. He likes to be engaged in something. The ideal candidate is reliable, consistent, communicative, engaging, patient, and willing to travel to different locations. The ideal candidate must also be willing to provide personal care when needed. The ideal candidate should be able to transport a walker and foldable wheelchair and be able to support the individual physically as needed.

This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.

Hours and days of work: 30 hours per week, 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Prefers services from 8:00am to 2:00pm, but is flexible to be picked up before 12:00pm as long as he can go out for 6 hours.

Starting pay: Starting pay is $19.25/hour and increases with years of relevant experience.

Qualifications
Must have a valid drivers license 
Effective communication and organizational skills required.
Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.
