Digital Workplace Architect

INTRODUCTION and WHAT YOU WILL DO (Job Responsibilities)

Are you excited by the opportunity to shape how a global workforce collaborates, automates their work, and gets more done with modern technology? In this role you will act as the product owner for Vontier’s Microsoft 365 E5 platform — setting the technology architecture, owning the roadmap, and making the platform decisions that determine how thousands of employees work every day. You will translate business needs into platform strategy, ensuring every capability investment is deliberate, governed, and delivers measurable value.

You are:

• Deeply experienced with Microsoft 365 E5 — you understand the full platform stack including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID P2, Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Purview, Intune, and Power Platform
• A natural product owner — you think in roadmaps, prioritise ruthlessly, and are as comfortable saying what will not be built as what will; you manage platform scope with the same rigour others apply to project delivery
• Experienced in using the M365 platform to improve IT service delivery — you have built self-service capabilities, automated onboarding and provisioning workflows, and reduced IT ticket volume by putting the right tools and automations directly in the hands of end users
• Skilled at translating platform governance and compliance requirements into clear architectural decisions that teams can implement and maintain without specialist knowledge
• Certified or demonstrably expert in Microsoft technologies — MS-500, MS-700, SC-400, AZ-900, or equivalent hands-on depth is expected
• A strong communicator who can present complex technical decisions to senior business stakeholders in plain language, framed around outcomes rather than features
• Experienced working in a global, federated enterprise where you have influenced without direct authority across geographically dispersed teams and business units
• Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor — you are the expert in the room, not a people manager, and you take ownership of outcomes end to end

WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)

What you do:

• Own the M365 E5 platform architecture for Vontier globally — acting as product owner for the platform; setting the technology standards, configuration governance, and roadmap in collaboration with IT Security, Infrastructure, and Digital Workplace Engineering
• Define and maintain a prioritised platform backlog — translating business requests, security requirements, and Microsoft product updates into a clear, sequenced roadmap that stakeholders can understand and hold the team accountable to
• Architect Defender for Office 365 and Entra ID P2 — Conditional Access, Identity Protection, Privileged Identity Management — to reduce attack surface while maintaining a seamless sign-in experience for all users
• Design and deliver adoption programmes that maximise return on the E5 licence investment — working with HR, Communications, and business leads to build digital capability and drive measurable changes in how people work
• Govern E5 licensing — track utilisation, identify optimisation opportunities, and provide quarterly reporting to IT leadership on licence spend vs. capability activation to eliminate waste
• Partner with the Digital Workplace Engineering team to ensure platform architectural decisions translate into reliable, well-supported operational services — bridging the gap between roadmap and day-to-day administration
• Maintain awareness of the Microsoft product roadmap and translate upcoming changes into proactive platform recommendations for Vontier leadership — preventing surprises and identifying capabilities before the business asks for them
• 5-7 years of relevant experience, bachelor’s degree in related field preferred but not required
• Proficient in Powershell
