Job Summary: The Digital Content Specialist is a versatile journalist and digital storyteller who plays a critical role in executing, editing, and optimizing publishing operations across multiple B2B media brands. Anchored by strong foundational journalism skills—including sharp reporting, compelling copywriting, line and copy editing, podcast production, and audience-first social media engagement—this role ensures all editorial content meets the highest standards of accuracy, ethics, and clarity.
Beyond core reporting and editing, the specialist adapts print and long-form content for digital platforms, ensuring consistent tagging, formatting, and SEO/GEO and UX best practices within the CMS. They collaborate closely with editors and writers to shape stories, manage print production cycles (if applicable), and maintain publishing schedules. The role also oversees newsletter production from build to distribution, tracks website analytics dashboards to inform content strategy, and acts as the brand’s voice across social media channels by writing, scheduling, and actively engaging with followers and industry trends.

Essential Job Function:
- Reporting & Writing: Write original pieces, conduct interviews, and craft clear, engaging, and accurate B2B content that resonates with target audiences.
- Editing & Fact-Checking: Apply rigorous editorial standards to line-edit, copy-edit, and fact-check stories for clarity, style, accuracy, and journalistic integrity.
- Audio Storytelling: Produce, edit, and help distribute podcast episodes, translating complex industry topics into compelling audio narratives.
- Social Media & Community Engagement: Write, edit, and schedule platform-specific social posts, actively engage with followers to build community, and monitor competitor activity and industry trends.
- CMS & Publishing Operations: Format, upload, and publish content in the CMS while ensuring SEO standards, UX best practices, and consistent tagging/categorization.
- Visual Sourcing: Select, source, and create appropriate images or graphics for web, social, and audio promotional content using tools like Canva or Adobe Express.
- Content Repurposing: Convert long-form editorial into multiple formats (e.g., newsletters, podcast show notes, infographics, social threads), and update evergreen content for accuracy and relevance.
- Workflow & Collaboration: Work with brand editors to manage content calendars, contribute to planning meetings and content ideation, and ensure timely delivery through close collaboration with writers and editors.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Collaborate with developers or digital teams to implement site updates and troubleshoot technical publishing issues.
- Data & Analytics: Use analytics tools to track content performance, maintain traffic dashboards, and develop actionable insights to guide future content strategies and distribution plans.
- Newsletter Management: Build and send newsletters, conduct A/B tests, and monitor engagement metrics such as open rates and click-through rates.
Core Competencies:
- Foundational Journalism Skills: Exceptional news judgment, interviewing, investigative curiosity, and a commitment to accuracy and journalistic ethics.
- Copywriting & Editing Excellence: Mastery of grammar, AP style (or house style), structural editing, and headline writing.
- Audio Production: Experience producing, recording, and editing podcasts or audio segments.
- Digital Fluency: Understanding of SEO/GEO, analytics, AI tools, and social media platform algorithms.
- Audience Growth & Engagement: Commitment to data-driven decision making, community building, and reader interaction.
- Communication & Multi-tasking: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to juggle multiple publishing deadlines across various brands.
Knowledge / Skill / Ability:
- Writing, Editing, and Podcasting (Core Requirement)
- SEO, AI, and CMS Proficiency
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional editorial and reporting experience
- Newsletter production and analytics experience preferred
