Job Details: Job Location: Melissa Memorial Hospital - HOLYOKE, CO, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $16.00 - $17.00Hourly, Job Shift: Day, JOB SUMMARY:

The Dietary Cook performs food preparation and food service duties for hospital patients, employees, and visitors. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and food safety, as well as preparing appropriate quantities of food according to established menus.

The Dietary Cook also performs cleaning and sanitizing duties for utensils, equipment, and work areas, including floors, refrigerators, stoves, pots, and service carts. The position may prepare and assemble meal trays for various diets, deliver food to patient care areas, and assist with collecting trays and utensils.

This position will learn and work both shifts:

Morning Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Afternoon Shift: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Includes rotating weekends.

 *In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon MMH needs or requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Maintain departmental policies, procedures, and safety and quality standards.
Read menus and diet cards to correctly prepare patient trays.
Cook food according to the menu and the number of people being served.
Coordinate food preparation and serving times.
Record food temperatures and any required menu substitutions.
Use standardized recipes and portion control to minimize waste.
Operate the dishwasher and maintain clean utensils and equipment.
Clean and sanitize work areas, tables, ovens, and utensils.
Deliver meal trays to patients when necessary.
Record patient food intake.
Handle lunch ticket sales according to established policies.
Provide friendly and courteous service to cafeteria customers and visitors.
Participate in required training sessions and meetings.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Review and respond to work-related emails and communications.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:

        Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food service experience preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of equipment operation and simple food preparation.
Commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, and quality service.

       Technical Skills

Basic computer and calculator skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

       Communication Skills

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to problem-solve and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and coworkers.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: 

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
