Die Casting Furnace Operator

This role will operate under Advanced Die Casting, LLC as a whole-owned subsidiary of Humanscale.

Overview

This Die Casting Furnace Operator position ensures aluminum meets quality specifications by operating die casting and smelting furnaces, purifying liquid aluminum, and maintaining material levels while minimizing downtime. The role involves inspecting and preheating equipment, monitoring temperatures, degassing materials, and adhering to safety protocols and 5S workplace standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-shift inspections of smelting furnaces to ensure that they are in normal and optimal condition
• Weigh, adjust, and preheat aluminum materials according to required technical specifications
• Operate melting furnaces to melt aluminum while maintaining precise temperature controls
• Remove impurities from molten aluminum using purification and degassing equipment
• Adhere strictly to occupational safety regulations and standard operating procedures for ovens
• Maintain site cleanliness and organization standards using the 5S methodology
• Monitor material temperatures and molten levels across all active operating furnaces
• Perform degassing procedures on materials prior to transfer into operating furnaces
• Maintain tools in good working order and ensure the cleanliness of furnace units

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of experience in Die Casting.
• Ability to safely operate die casting machinery in high-temperature environments.
• Basic knowledge of mathematics.
• Knowledge about the furnace operation process preferred.
• Interpretation and understanding of visual aids.
• Understanding of 5S workplace organization standards.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).
• Ability to prioritize and stay organized.
• Possesses/develops knowledge regarding products, procedures, and policies. Understands critical issues affecting the organization.
• Flexible schedule availability.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
• Excellent follow-through skills.

• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure. 
• Lifting capacity of up to 30 lbs.
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the production area.

• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and manual material handling.
• Repetitive movements involving hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.
• Manual pushing and pulling of carts and aluminum material.
• Handling aluminum ingots and molten metal containers.
• Exposure to elevated temperatures generated by Die Casting furnaces and molten aluminum operations (approximately 620°C to 700°C).
• Exposure to industrial noise.
• Exposure to dust, oil mist, chemicals, and non-ionizing radiation.
• Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Load aluminum ingots into furnaces, clean dross/slag, move molten metal containers, and perform furnace cleaning activities.
