Program Description

Longroad Energy’s internship program provides opportunities for undergraduate students to explore careers in renewable energy. In 2027, Longroad will offer paid internship positions that create challenging hands-on learning experiences for college juniors, entering their senior year in the Fall. Selected interns will participate in a 10–12-week summer program that includes onboarding, structured work experience, mentoring, and exposure both to department-specific and company-wide personnel and activities.

Job Purpose

The Development Intern will support Longroad's Development team in advancing utility-scale solar, wind and energy storage projects throughout the development lifecycle. Working closely with Project Developers, GIS specialists, and other cross-functional teams, the intern will assist with project schedule management, milestone tracking, project reporting, consultant coordination, and development data management.

This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in renewable energy project development while helping maintain the systems, documentation, and project controls necessary to support a growing portfolio of development projects.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

• Support the maintenance and update of project schedules, milestone trackers, and development work plans across multiple projects.
• Track key permitting, land acquisition, interconnection, and development milestones and assist with reporting on project status.
• Prepare weekly and monthly development reports, project dashboards, and portfolio summaries.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to collect project updates and ensure project information is current and accurate.
• Maintain project records, data repositories, and development documentation in company systems.
• Assist with organizing and tracking mapping requests, project exhibits, and development-related spatial data.
• Help prepare materials and supporting documentation for permitting applications, stakeholder meetings, and internal project reviews.
• Track action items from project meetings and support follow-up coordination with project team members.
• Conduct research and compile information related to project development activities, permitting processes, and local requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of project management, reporting, and document control processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Development, GIS, Engineering, Environmental, Real Estate, and Transmission groups to support project advancement.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student at a 4-year college
• Preferred major of Environmental Studies, Engineering, Project Management, Business or Energy related major
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Interest in Renewable Energy Industry 
• Curiosity
• Self-starter
• Strong written and organizational skills
• Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Cover letter highly preferred

Compensation

This role pays $25 hour.
