Deputy Juvenile Officer

Clay County is seeking dependable and compassionate individuals to join our Juvenile Detention team. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and well-being of juveniles in the detention center while providing professional supervision and support.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for residents.
• Ensure juveniles’ basic needs are met.
• Enforce departmental policies and procedures.
• Complete required reports and documentation accurately.
• Assist with crisis intervention and physical restraint when necessary.
• Perform routine facility duties, including kitchen, laundry, and supply inventory.
• Participate in required training, including CPR and physical restraint techniques.
• Comply with PREA requirements and County safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Youth Specialist: High school diploma or equivalent.

Deputy Juvenile Officer: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related human services field.

Candidates should have strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain professional in challenging or potentially hostile situations.

Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available, with day and evening shifts based on operational needs.
