JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Bernardino invites applications for a Graduate Assistant (GA) position. This position provides an excellent opportunity for graduate students to gain valuable experience in both research and supervising students in a classroom, workshop, or laboratory while contributing to the department’s mission.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Graduate Assistants will work under the supervision of faculty members in the Department of Biological Sciences. The GA will support faculty research initiatives, evaluating student work and examinations, preparing course materials, and help foster student learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Enrollment in the MS in Biology degree program at California State University, San Bernardino. Students enrolled in other graduate programs may be eligible

Must maintain academic eligibility throughout employment period (3.0 GPA or higher)

Must be able to work cooperatively with faculty, staff and other students

Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work independently

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in hand by time of appointment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Biology has 14 tenure-track/tenured faculty with a variety of research interests, as well as lecturers and technicians who provide pivotal support. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The department has facilities for microscopy, 3D printing, cell culture and stem cell research, animal care, and plant growth. The CSUSB herbarium hosts a small collection (about 4,000 specimens) of mostly local flora.
