This position serves as member of the Casey Eye Institute (CEI) IT Team which supports all locations of the OHSU Casey Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology. Locations include Marquam Hill campus (CEI, ECEC and LBRB), South Waterfront Campus (CEI at the Center for Health & Healing 1), and satellite locations in Oregon (Astoria, Hood River, The Dalles and Bend) and Washington (Longview and Vancouver).

The Department IT Analyst serves as resource for information technology support, planning, purchasing, and administration. Provides end-user support for hardware, software, audiovisual systems, telecommunications, and specialized ophthalmology applications including, but not limited to Heidelberg Engineering software, Optos, Optovue, Zeiss Forum, and other division specific softwares.  Oversee technology asset management, software licensing, user access requests, and equipment procurement while ensuring compliance with organizational security and technology standards. Acts as the department's IT Contact (ITC-3), serving as a liaison between departmental users and OHSU Information Technology to support daily operations, technology initiatives, infrastructure projects, and strategic planning. Delivers training and guidance to faculty and staff to promote effective, secure, and efficient use of technology resources.

This role is expected to be performed in a manner that promotes the service excellence philosophy at the Casey Eye Institute.

Function/Duties of Position

End User Technology Support

Serve as the primary point of contact for departmental information technology support.

• Use CEI-IT Jira ticketing system to manage and track IT work requests; work closely with technical teams, keep end users informed on the status of their requests, and use ticket data to identify trends and opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.
• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and replace computer hardware and software.
• Evaluate out-of-warranty equipment for surplus, refurbishment, reimaging, or redeployment.
• Recommend appropriate technology solutions and equipment replacements based on operational needs.
• Provide technical support for Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and Outlook.
• Manage departmental email accounts and coordinate calendar access and proxy permissions.
• Support mission-critical Ophthalmology applications, including Heidelberg Engineering, Optos, Optovue, Zeiss Forum, and other specialty software and databases.

Purchasing and Asset Management

Manage technology purchasing, inventory, licensing, and records.

• Coordinate procurement of hardware, software, and technology services using departmental purchasing processes.
• Maintain inventory, warranty, and lifecycle records for technology assets.
• Manage software licensing and renewals, including annual Adobe license renewals.
• Reconcile technology-related P-Card purchases and maintain supporting documentation.
• Provide information for annual budgeting and technology planning.
• Complete required security reviews for technology purchases and software implementations.

Information Technology Contact (ITC-3)

Serve as the department's designated IT Contact Level 3 and liaison to OHSU Information Technology.

• Coordinate departmental network, computer, phone, and telecommunications support.
• Request and coordinate data jack installations, phone service changes, and related infrastructure needs.
• Assist users with wireless device configuration and telephone headset setup.
• Serve as liaison between the department, ITG, user groups, and other OHSU departments.
• Coordinate technology projects, including equipment deployments, moves, additions, and changes.
• Participate in IT advisory groups and attend required ITC meetings.
• Provide advanced hardware and software support, including deployment of computers using ITG standards and maintenance of Clinical Care Workstations (CCWs).
• Assist staff with technology training, security incident reporting, and compliance with departmental and organizational technology standards.
• Support the development, communication, and enforcement of IT policies and procedures, consulting with departmental leadership and OHSU Integrity as appropriate.
• Follow established service-level agreements and implement required information security controls.

IT Oversight and Planning

Provide guidance on departmental technology strategy, implementation, and training.

• Assist with planning, evaluation, selection, and implementation of new systems, applications, and technologies.
• Assess routine and project-specific computing needs and recommend solutions.
• Design and improve technology services and workflows that support departmental operations.
• Purchase, receive, configure, and deploy technology equipment.
• Develop and deliver individual and group training on technology systems, tools, and related policies.

User Access Management

Coordinate user access and permissions for departmental systems and resources.

• Submit and manage IAM requests to add, modify, or remove user access.
• Create and manage access to departmental shared folders and resources.
• Coordinate the creation of security groups and maintain group membership as needed.

Audio Visual Support

Provide audiovisual support for departmental events and presentations.

• Set up, configure, and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment and systems.
• Support faculty, staff, and guest speakers using AV equipment in Macdonald Auditorium and other Casey event venues
• Coordinate repair or replacement of malfunctioning AV equipment

Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional job-related duties, special projects, and technology-related tasks as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs.

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree and two years Computer Science experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
• Two years’ IT-related experience in a clinical, surgical and/or research environment.
• Experience acting as an interface to all end-users' IT needs in a multi-person work environment.
• Experience dealing with external vendors in resolving operating system issues.
• Experience selecting appropriate and cost-effective hardware and software.

Job Related Skills/Abilities/Etc:

• Current Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and the ability to travel to satellite locations on short notice. 
• Driving record that meets OHSU’s driving requirements
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
• Ability to educate computer end-users of all ability levels
• Ability to maintain strict adherence to computer system security rules.

• Must have demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance in past and present.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the installation, troubleshooting and upgrades of clinical applications. Experience working with specialized bench research hardware and software operating systems. Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP). Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
