Location:                  Remote, various locations throughout California
Salary Range:       Faculty salary schedule placement (depending on qualification and

                               education) + 15% $95,830.65 - $132,067.15

Position Overview

The Department Chair position supports Calbright College’s mission to offer competency-based, workforce-relevant programs for adult learners through high-impact andragogical practices in online, skills-based curriculum and assessment. In collaboration with the Dean of Learning and Instruction, the Department Chair ensures program quality, workforce relevancy, and continuous improvement of the Health Science Programs.

The Department Chair provides leadership for Health Science program planning, implementation, workforce alignment, and continuous improvement. The Chair works collaboratively with faculty, industry partners, accrediting agencies, and healthcare organizations to ensure programs meet workforce demands, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The position supports program development, approval processes, the identification of experiential learning opportunities, healthcare partnerships, and advisory council engagement to ensure graduates are prepared for employment in high-demand healthcare fields.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the
duties performed within the scope of work.

• Collaborate with Learning and Instruction leadership to support program approval
  processes, including state, accreditation, certification, and regulatory requirements applicable to Health Science programs.
• Monitor healthcare industry trends, workforce demands, certification requirements, and regulatory changes to ensure the program's ongoing relevance and compliance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health Science programs utilizing competency-based and skills-based learning models.
• Leads regular program-level meetings to review program quality, continuous improvement, and student success metrics and data.
• Works with cross-functional teams (including program faculty and staff) to ensure program outcomes, assessment measures, and course content are rigorous, responsive, and relevant to workforce skills and needs. Support Adjunct Faculty in setting annual SMART goals to support student success.
• Oversee adjunct faculty in the assigned department area, including performing quarterly and annual reviews, approving timesheets, training, mentorship, referring student cases, and assisting with escalations. Reviews and monitors student and course feedback to ensure the student voice is represented, and provides recommendations for content and program improvements.
• Lead the program review process by overseeing review cycles, collecting and analyzing data, engaging stakeholders for input, and preparing comprehensive reports to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
• Leads with a data-informed mindset to validate quality, analyze student outcomes data, and contribute to trend analysis and metric tracking across programs.
• Support the identification, evaluation, development, and maintenance of clinical, practicum, internship, apprenticeship, and other experiential learning opportunities aligned with program outcomes and accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate with external partners to ensure experiential learning environments provide appropriate opportunities for student skill development and workforce readiness.
• Lead Health Science Advisory Councils and engage healthcare employers, licensing bodies, workforce agencies, and industry experts to ensure program alignment with workforce needs, credentialing requirements, emerging healthcare trends, and industry-recognized certifications.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations, employers, professional associations, and workforce agencies to support student success and workforce alignment.
• Maintain relevance in the discipline, including but not limited to certifications, professional development, and networking.
• Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.

• Knowledge of experiential learning, clinical education, internship, practicum, and work-based learning models.
• Ability to interpret labor market information and workforce data to support program development and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of program review processes, outcomes assessment, and key performance metrics.

Minimum Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Sciences, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related health discipline.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in healthcare, health sciences education, workforce development, healthcare administration, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience supporting program quality, curriculum development, workforce alignment, regulatory compliance, or student success initiatives.

Desired Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Education, or a related discipline.
• Current professional licensure or certification in an applicable healthcare field.
• Experience with healthcare accreditation, certification, or board approval
  processes.
• Experience developing partnerships with healthcare employers, clinical organizations, workforce agencies, or industry stakeholders.
• Experience with competency-based education, skills-based learning, or
  workforce-focused educational models.
• Online teaching, online program administration, or adult learning experience.
• Experience leading advisory councils, workforce advisory boards, or employer
  engagement initiatives.

Working Conditions and Travel

• Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use the digital communication tools used by the college and to work on a computer for extended periods. Although this is a primarily remote position, there may be instances in which you will be required to attend meetings or travel to in-person sites (clinical affiliates).
