Job Description
Here's an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the successful growth of our rural hospital by providing your expertise in our state-of-the-art Dental Clinic.
We are looking for a skilled dental hygienist to join our team of health professionals.
This is a Part-time to Full-time position – 1 to 4 days per week depending on applicant's preferences and availability. 8-hour days. 8-5 with one-hour lunch. Variable schedule Monday-Thursday.
Wage Scale: starting at $55 DOE
Responsibilities include:
1. Administers prophylactic treatment by the scaling and polishing of teeth.
2. Documents area of existing restorations and notable areas of possible decay and disease for dentist's review. When appropriate, may call in dentist for immediate consultation.
3. Takes x-rays to determine extent of any decay and disease.
4. Administers fluoride treatment as needed.
5. Updates medical history of patient, highlighting significant information for dentist's review.
6. Instructs patients in oral hygiene technique, answering patient questions and providing other educational information relevant to oral hygiene.
7. Practices universal precautions and other sterilization and infection control procedures and maintains equipment.
8. Provides associated administrative support, including maintaining patient documentation, patient communication and other record-keeping.
9. Performs related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Current California RDH license.
- Current X-ray license.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently

Eastern Plumas Health Care is a small, non-profit, critical access hospital district, providing comprehensive medical services to Plumas County since 1971. We operate a 9 bed acute care hospital at our main Portola campus, which includes a 24 hour, physician staffed, emergency room and ambulance service. In addition, four primary care medical clinics and a dental clinic offer residents a full spectrum of health care services in the Graeagle, Greenville, Loyalton, and Portola communities. There are also hospital-based Skilled Nursing Facilities in Portola and Loyalton. The hospital district serves over 10,000 permanent residents living in small communities scattered throughout Plumas and Sierra Counties. During the peak summer vacation months, that population almost doubles. In good weather, the commute to larger Reno and Truckee hospitals is 45 minutes. During the winter months, these roads are sometimes impassable, making EPHC one of the most vital services in our region. When necessary, critical care flight services can transport patients directly to Reno.
We also provide in-patient and out-patient surgery, diagnostic imaging, dietary, and respiratory services, hospice care, and visiting specialists.
