About the Role:
As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a critical role in promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases for patients of all ages. Your primary focus will be to provide professional dental care, including cleaning teeth, applying preventive materials, and assisting dentists during procedures. You will educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and the importance of maintaining dental health to prevent future issues. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout treatments. Ultimately, your work will contribute significantly to improving patients' overall health and quality of life through effective dental hygiene practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure to practice as a Dental Hygienist in the United States.
- Certification in local anesthesia administration as required by state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, pathology, and preventive care techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for dental procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Periodontic Dentistry or with diverse patient populations.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and dental practice management software.
- Continuing education in the latest dental hygiene practices and technologies.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient education and team collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough dental cleanings and examinations to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
- Administer local anesthesia and apply preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants as needed.
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures by preparing instruments and managing patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations to maintain oral health.
- Maintain accurate patient records, document treatments, and monitor patient progress over time.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
- Provide specialized care and education tailored to pediatric patients and other specific populations.
