Derecktor Shipyards is seeking a highly skilled Marine Plumber who will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of all plumbing systems on marine vessels. This includes freshwater systems, wastewater systems, and any associated fixtures. The role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of marine engineering principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
Install new plumbing systems, including pipes, pumps, and fixtures, according to marine standards.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Diagnose and repair plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, and system failures.
Assist with upgrades to existing plumbing systems to improve efficiency or comply with regulations.
Ensure all work adheres to maritime safety standards and environmental regulations.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.
Work with other marine technicians, engineers, and shipbuilders to address plumbing-related concerns.
Plumb shoreside cooling towers to a yachts HVAC system as well as be able to maintain the cooling towers themselves.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to perform lay out, fabricate, assemble, install repair and maintain marine plumbing and pipe systems.
Must be able to safely remove, repair and pressure test ship valves before generating a report and reinstalling.
Must be able to make and install various gaskets as needed.
Experience in CuNi, aluminum, steel, PVC and CPVC piping required. Experience with ViegaPress® or ProPress® systems a plus.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, select proper materials and equipment to complete projects preferred.
Required Qualifications:
Be skilled in the fabrication and repair of marine systems
High attention to detail
At least 3 years of shipyard plumbing experience
Own hand tools (up to 1”)
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Tool/equipment operation knowledge
Preferred - Experience working in a shipyard/ship repair environment
Preferred - OSHA Safety Training in Maritime or General Industry
