Job Summary: 

The position will serve as a team member of the PCBC Day School. This position is responsible for maintaining all program standards including those of Park Cities Baptist Church, and Texas Department of Family and Protective and Regulatory Services.  Accepts temporary work assignments with all age groups, including children’s personal care, hygiene, learning activities, specialized programs, and positive guidance. The Floater / Permanent Substitute will work under general supervision of the Day School Director with some demand for independent judgment and action.

Preferred Qualifications: 

High School Diploma, bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Elementary Education or a Child Development associate degree or other related degree.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

•    Maintain Texas Minimum Standards

•    Must complete 24 hours of required yearly training outlined by the Texas Health & Human Services Department plus additional Pre-Service Training if needed.

•    Obtain a CPR certification and first aid training every two years.

•    Obtain a valid Food Handlers certification every two years.

•    Abide by Positive Guidance and Discipline Methods according to Texas Minimum Standards

•    Organize and participate in indoor/outdoor activities, such as games, gardening, and gross motor play, utilizing the indoors or outdoors for teaching opportunities that are age appropriate.

•    Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

•    Demonstrate enthusiasm and show pleasure in working with and caring for young children.

•    Promptly care for the physical needs of the children.

•    Show respect to and relate positively towards children and adults.

•    Ensure classrooms have the supplies and resources ready at the start of each day.

•    Document the occurrence of significant accidents/incidents and notify the Day School Director immediately.

•    Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Physical and Mental Requirements and Work Environment Conditions:

•  Influenza vaccine is highly recommended at the onset of flu season and the COVID-19 vaccine is 

highly recommended, but not required.

•  Must have organizational skills to keep an orderly and clean learning environment.

•  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

•  The ability to use a computer for the purpose of completing training courses.

•  Standing and walking for sustained periods of time; moving about on foot for lecturing and 

monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building and playground.

•  Stooping, crouching, crawling, and kneeling---ability to assist young children with physical 

needs, i.e., changing diapers and assisting a child in the restroom.

•  Climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting --- ability to pick up small children as 

needed as well as for classroom setup purposes, lifting children to a changing station (20-30 

pounds).

•  The environment is primarily indoors, in a classroom, and will also include an outdoor classroom 

environment with intermittent hot and cold weather.

•  Patience while working with young children with a wide variety of challenging behaviors and 

learning styles, diverse families, and co-workers.
