Direct Support Professionals care for and support adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities in a daytime program environment. Working with a team, DSPs in a day habilitation setting support people served with daily living skills, personalized goals, arts and crafts, sensory activities, and accompany on outings in the community.

• Day Shift – Monday through Friday

WHAT WOULD I BE DOING?

• Provides daily support and care to people with developmental, intellectual and/or physical disabilities, with daily living skills and other needs.
• Assists with planning daily activities and participating in small group activities.
• Encourage additional skill development in exciting community activity options.
• Utilize agency vehicles for community-based activities.

• Overall Assists with choice-making and encouraging independence.

• Assist with dining needs, including celebrating holidays and other special events
• Working in a team environment.
• Enjoying the opportunity to support others with achieving their personal goals.

• Documents all services accurately and timely.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DSP:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
• Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record
• Excellent communication skills.
• Has a willingness to learn new skills (we provide paid training).
• Having a great sense of humor and willingness to be flexible is greatly beneficial!
• Possesses computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
