Data Engineering Manager – eCommerce & Fulfillment

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineering Manager – eCommerce & Fulfillment based in the United States.

This role leads data engineering and digital initiatives supporting eCommerce and fulfillment experiences in a large, customer-focused organization.
You will help turn data and technology into actionable insights that improve digital products, services, and customer experiences.
The position combines people leadership, program management, strategic thinking, and hands-on engagement with modern digital and technology capabilities.
You will manage a portfolio of initiatives while partnering across teams to deliver sustainable, data-driven transformation.
A key part of the role is developing talent, strengthening team capabilities, and creating an environment where people can do their best work.
You will also contribute to quality, information security, budgeting, and operational performance across assigned programs.

Accountabilities

• Lead data-driven analysis to identify opportunities to improve digital products, services, customer experiences, and cross-channel consistency.

• Manage and deliver end-to-end digital programs and transformation initiatives using agile and design-thinking approaches.

• Translate digital strategy and business objectives into practical programs, initiatives, and technology-enabled solutions.

• Manage a portfolio of projects and programs, tracking priorities, milestones, performance, resources, and outcomes while communicating progress to senior stakeholders.

• Lead quality initiatives by developing methods, tools, and programs that strengthen delivery standards and continuous improvement.

• Contribute to budget planning and execution for assigned programs and initiatives.

• Support information-security efforts by identifying, analyzing, escalating, and helping remediate cybersecurity incidents, vulnerabilities, and security gaps in accordance with established procedures.

• Communicate strategic priorities clearly to team members and connect day-to-day work with broader organizational objectives.

• Develop team capabilities through coaching, training, professional development, and knowledge sharing.

• Establish performance objectives, monitor team and individual results, provide feedback, and take appropriate action to support successful outcomes.

• Build strong, diverse teams by leveraging individual strengths, encouraging collaboration, recognizing contributions, and creating an engaging working environment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent level of education preferred.

• 6–10+ years of relevant professional experience in data, digital, technology, engineering, product, transformation, or a related discipline.

• 1–3 years of experience supervising and directing people and resources to achieve defined outcomes within established timeframes.

• Demonstrated experience managing complex programs, portfolios, or digital transformation initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.

• Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to connect technology and data initiatives to broader business objectives.

• Ability to make sound, timely decisions independently while recognizing when escalation or additional stakeholder input is required.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain strategy, priorities, and technical concepts to diverse audiences.

• Proven ability to build effective teams, develop talent, provide constructive feedback, and foster a collaborative and accountable culture.

• Customer-focused mindset with an ability to use customer feedback, market trends, and emerging needs to guide innovation.

• Strong organizational and project management capabilities, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against deadlines.

• Comfortable addressing complex or difficult issues directly and constructively while maintaining trust and professionalism.

• Demonstrated technology awareness and willingness to adopt emerging tools, digital capabilities, and innovative approaches that improve performance.

• Experience working in fast-paced, transformation-oriented environments where priorities and business needs can evolve quickly.
