That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

In short, we're looking for a Data Engineer who is passionate about transforming complex, raw data into trusted, business-ready insights. This role will be instrumental in building and optimizing scalable data models within Snowflake using dbt Core, helping teams across the organization make smarter, faster decisions. You'll partner closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to create reliable data foundations, improve performance, enforce data quality standards, and support a modern, scalable analytics ecosystem.

In Long, as the Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Developing, maintaining, and optimizing dbt Core models to transform raw data into clean, analytics-ready datasets within Snowflake.
• Designing scalable and efficient data models that support reporting, analytics, and self-service business intelligence initiatives.
• Collaborating with data engineering teams to define, build, and enhance ELT pipelines and data workflows.
• Leveraging Python to automate data transformation processes, implement data quality checks, and improve operational efficiencies.
• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing Snowflake query performance while balancing platform cost efficiency.
• Building and maintaining testing frameworks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
• Creating and maintaining documentation, metadata, and data lineage information to support governance and transparency.
• Partnering with analysts and business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Supporting enterprise data governance initiatives and helping establish best practices for data management.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the organization's data architecture, standards, and analytical capabilities.
• Working independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the business.

The Specifics.

• 3+ years of experience in BI Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Data Modeling.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining data models using dbt Core.
• Strong experience working with Snowflake and modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Extensive experience designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure.
• Proficiency with SQL and advanced data modeling techniques.
• Strong programming experience in Python and familiarity with data engineering languages such as Java or Scala.
• Experience working with on-premises SQL Server environments.
• Experience integrating and managing data workflows utilizing Kafka, Argo, and SSIS.
• Knowledge of ELT/ETL architecture, data warehousing concepts, and analytics engineering best practices.
• Experience implementing data quality testing, monitoring, and validation frameworks.
• Understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data governance principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Have

• Experience with BI and data visualization tools such as Sigma
• Familiarity with Argo orchestration frameworks.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise data environments.
• Exposure to advanced cloud data architecture and modern analytics platforms.
• Experience supporting self-service analytics initiatives and business intelligence programs.
