Job Description
Summary: The Old Town School of Folk Music is seeking friendly and detail-oriented part-time Customer Service Associates for our Lincoln Square and Armitage locations. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for students, guests, and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and assisting with various administrative tasks.
Schedule: Wednesday afternoon/evening & Saturdays and Sundays; two/three shifts per week, hours may vary
Required Qualifications:

3 years of customer service experience

Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written)
- Proficient computer skills

Strong problem-solving and judgment skills
-
Ability to work independently and accurately handle transactions (cash handling, registrations, etc.)

Excellent communication skills with diplomacy and tact
Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to play at least one instrument at an intermediate level

Interest in art, dance, theatre, and education is a plus
Hourly pay: $17.60

About Old Town School of Folk Music
Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music (“OTSFM”) is the largest community school of the arts in the U.S. and a non-profit organization committed to celebrating American music and global cultures. Founded in 1957, Old Town School provides a wide range of music, dance, and arts courses to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Whatever one's interest, Old Town School provides broad access to more than 700 weekly class offerings, a broad array of private lessons, and over 400 concerts and community events per year.
Old Town School of Folk Music opened its Lincoln Square facility in 1998 and expanded in 2012. The Old Town School operates two campuses located in Chicago's Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park neighborhoods that include world-class concert halls, classrooms, an award-winning music store, and a music resource center. Online classes were introduced in 2020 and students from nearly every state and a dozen countries participated over the course of the pandemic. The School is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community & Precollegiate Arts Schools, one of only a dozen accredited community arts schools in the nation and the only one dedicated to teaching traditional and popular art forms from around the world.
The School’s critically acclaimed concerts showcase some of the finest and most diverse local and touring artists in our intimate and acoustically superb hall. Ticket prices remain among the most affordable in the city and special events like the Square Roots Festival and World Music Wednesdays make music accessible to all with free and reduced-priced programs.
The Old Town School is the largest independent community arts school in the United States with 300 staff and faculty members who serve an average 6,000 students per week, and is supported by 3,000 members, 400 active volunteers, and an events audience of 85,000 per year. Outreach programs serve 2,000 children in 20 public schools and care facilities across Chicago, and field trip concerts attract 9,000 students and teachers annually with interactive and educational performances.
The School owns and operates three facilities situated in Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park that include 425-seat and 150-seat concert halls, 47 classrooms, a music store, café, and resource center. Children’s classes are also held at suburban satellite locations.
