CUSTODIAN (PT)

Job Details: Job Location: Ford Community and Performing Arts Center - Dearborn, MI, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, CLASS SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas. Responsibilities may include cleaning assigned areas; setting up for events; and/or training new staff.

TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
1.    Cleans assigned areas, including: waxing floors; vacuuming floors; washing windows; emptying trash; and cleaning restrooms.
2.    Sets up chairs, tables, and stages for events.
3.    Trains and/or monitors staff to ensure proper completion of work.
4.    Orders equipment and supplies.
5.    Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
 Qualifications: LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: 
•    Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License
 
KNOWLEDGE:
•    Applicable tools and equipment;
•    Basic cleaning techniques;
•    Applicable cleaning chemicals;
•    Safe work practices;
•    Methods of training staff;
•    Supply and equipment ordering.
    SKILLS:
•    Cleaning work areas;
•    Setting up for events;
•    Training staff;
•    Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, vibration, dusts, gases, and chemicals.
