The custodian is responsible for performing general cleaning activities, floor maintenance, and trash removal throughout the campus. They also handle the setup and breakdown of events and report supply or repair needs to the supervisor.

Job Description

Sussex County Community College is seeking a part time Custodian.  The part time Custodian will report to the Custodial Supervisor and will be responsible for general cleaning activities, special project set ups and summer assignments.

AM Position - Tuesday - Saturday 7:00am - 11:00am

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. 
  2. Knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, equipment, and materials of custodial functions. Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment. 
  3. Perform floor care duties such as buffing, waxing, and carpet cleaning.
  4. Remove trash and other debris for general custodial duties as well as special project (such as moving furniture)
  5. Perform set ups and break downs of scheduled events as per work orders.
  6. Reports supply orders to Custodial Supervisor.
  7. Reports needs for minor repairs to Custodial Supervisor.
  8. Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure you are your team members are free from injury.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION -  

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Prior custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Professional and compassionate demeanor.
