Facilities Assistant / Custodian

$19.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on experience
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM–3:00 PM

Appleseed Community Mental Health Center is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Assistant / Custodian to help keep our facilities clean, safe, and well maintained. This full-time position offers a consistent weekday schedule, excellent benefits, and a variety of work beyond traditional custodial cleaning.

The position is primarily responsible for custodial duties, with approximately 25 hours per week dedicated to cleaning and the remaining time spent assisting our Maintenance Specialist with facility upkeep, groundskeeping, and general maintenance projects. This individual will also help cover routine maintenance responsibilities when the Maintenance Specialist is off.

Previous custodial or maintenance experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys staying active, and is comfortable helping wherever needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
• Clean and restock restrooms, common areas, offices, entrances, and hallways.
• Maintain and organize cleaning supplies, equipment, and supply closets.
• Assist the Maintenance Specialist with general facility upkeep, minor repairs, and maintenance projects.
• Assist with lawn care, snow removal, and other groundskeeping duties as needed.
• Help cover routine maintenance responsibilities when the Maintenance Specialist is off.
• Identify and report maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
• Travel between agency locations as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or general maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks, including bending, moving/lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between agency locations. 
• Successful completion of background check, driving record check, and drug screening.
