Schedule: Monday – Friday  / 27.5 hours per week

Summary

The Life-Teen and Edge Coordinator (Youth Ministry) is responsible for all high school & middle school youth ministry programs, including Life-Teen (High School), EDGE Curriculum (Middle School), and Teen ACTS (High School).  This position performs all basic administrative programs related to the Faith Formation program and maintains files and records of all students and sacraments. The position is also responsible for monitoring the budgetary cost centers for each program. The Edge and Life-Teen Coordinator is also tasked with performing basic administrative duties related to the Faith Formation Program, connecting the parents and families in the program to the larger parish community.  The coordinator will maintain a relationship with parish ministries and the St. Luke School to foster collaboration throughout the parish and school community.  Other responsibilities may include: preparing weekly “bulletin” to parents in program both paper and electronic media, maintain files, and records of students.  

Essential Functions and Duties

• Organizes, schedules and coordinates the faith formation for a particular level or group or assists with this task. This will include Edge, Life-Teen, and Teen ACTS.
• Prepares and schedules or assists with sacramental programs and liturgies.
• Assist with Faith Formation registrations.
• Recruit and coordinate with adult catechists for EDGE, Life Teen, and Teen ACTS.
• Virtus Facilitator - Ensures all Youth Ministry volunteers are Virtus compliant and coordinates training when needed.  Includes all teen who turn 18 while they are in the program.
• Orders, assists, and monitors with ordering textbooks, teaching materials and resources for the program.
• Prepares or offers input on an annual budget and monthly grade level activities and updates for all programs.
• Prepares or assists with a yearly calendar for the program and Faith Formation Commission and assists in compiling yearly parish master calendar.
• Supports and endorses Archdiocesan and pastoral council and faith formation commission policies.
• Supervises assigned grade levels or groups in the Faith Formation program.
• Recruits or assists with eliciting catechists and volunteers for assigned levels or groups.
• Supervises or assists with appropriate in-service training and formation of catechists.
• Advises and visits with students, parents/guardians, catechists if problems or concerns arise.
• Prepares or assists with liturgical celebrations for students and families.
• Prepares and coordinates with the pastor/pastoral administrator sacramental rites for students.
• Collaborates with pastoral staff to integrate the total faith formation plan for the parish.
• Meets monthly with pastoral staff for planning and integration of Religious Education programs with whole parish programs.  
• Coordinates preparation of the weekly bulletin section for Junior High & High School Faith Formation.
• Maintains constant communication with Faith Formation families and maintains service hours for teen volunteers.
• Develop and implement programs to supplement current Youth Ministry programs such as Summer Youth Fellowship.
• Collaborate with other Youth Ministries to develop enrichment programs for teens such as a local Youth Leadership Conference.
• Prepare and present catechist retreat and training for all Youth Ministry catechists.
• Maintains and assists with sacramental records, notifications, and certificates on parish grounds per Diocese guidelines.
• Serve as member of ACTS Core as a representative of Teen ACTS and Youth Ministry per ACTS Missions guidelines.
• Coordinate and oversee the Teen ACTS Retreat and planning meetings.  Schedule venues and events associated with the Teen ACTS retreat.  As well as guide the team each week of planning.
• Lead Teen ACTS Adult volunteers group.  Includes overseeing that all adults participate in Teen ACTS adult training.
• Work with Teen ACTS adults to select directors and teen leaders for the retreat.  Names of directors will be submitted to ACTS Core.
• Oversee the teen leaders with the ACTS Core as they prepare for the retreat as well as attend and oversee the Teen ACTS retreat.
• Maintains and assists with sacramental records, notifications, and certificates on parish grounds per Archdiocesan guidelines.
• Assist with Archdiocesan Appeal, Capital Campaign, and other major parish fundraisers. 
• Attends monthly Parish staff meetings and other meetings assigned by pastor.
• Register youth ministry participants and volunteers in ParishSOFT Family Suite in their appropriate classes.
• Maintains continuous education and training in the faith.
• Adheres to Archdiocese Code of Conduct and safe environment mandates.
• Other duties as assigned by Pastor 

Requirements

Qualifications

• Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community. (Sometimes this requirement may be satisfied by a person who has knowledge of and is willing to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church).
• Undergraduate work in Theology, Catechesis or extensive parish experience as a Youth Minister.
• Bilingual (Preferred) – (English and Spanish)
• Three years of parish and/or administrative office experience
• Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays due to work an unpredictable schedule when necessary.

• At least one year of experience working with volunteers.
• Experience in marketing, non-profit and/or networking.
• Proven ability to accept feedback from Pastor and adapt approach with volunteers as needed.
• Ability to be innovative and generate ideas that work with ever-changing community needs.
• Must cooperate as a team member and demonstrate ability to produce in a results - driven environment.
• Must be able to prioritize effectively.
• Must handle pressure well.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, employees may frequently lift 10- 25 pounds, and be in constant movement at times.

Travel Requirements

• Travel requirements for this position include 10% local and 5% overnight.
• Expect travel for Life Teen retreat in November via charter bus.
