TITLE: Coordinator, Hollywood Farmers’ Market  

STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt (hourly) 

REPORTS TO: Regional Manager, Hollywood Farmers’ Market 

LOCATION: Hollywood Farmers' Market 

COMPENSATION: $22/hour  

BENEFITS: Open PTO, 403b retirement plan 

SCHEDULE: 8 hours/week, must be able to work Sundays, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM  

Summary of Responsibilities   

Food Access LA is seeking a part-time assistant to provide on-site support to the Hollywood Farmers’ Market. The Hollywood Farmers’ Market is Food Access LA’s oldest and largest market and operates every Sunday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This position requires working Sundays at the market (6:30 AM - 3 PM). 

Hollywood Farmers’ Market (Sundays 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM) 

• Support Manager, Hollywood Farmers’ Market with the tasks related to the on-site operation of the Hollywood Farmers’ Market which include, but are not limited to:  

• Operate and assist with physical set-up and take-down of the Information Booth 

• Serve as the primary on-site Information Booth staff person 

• Gather, organize and maintain market supplies 

• Respond to questions, concerns, and inquiries from vendors, customers, volunteers, and community partners. 

• Communicate market policies, activities, and rules to all vendors 

• Check in, orient, and provide on-site training and guidance to market volunteers 

• Assist vendors with proper placement in stalls 

• Enforce Food Access LA rules and other pertinent Regional, State, and Federal laws and regulations (Direct Marketing, California Retail Food Code, etc.) 

• Maintain market grounds and assure the market site is clean once the market is closed and vendors have left 

• Distribute load lists, market memos, and other market correspondence to market vendors 

• Maintain market supply inventory and organize market storage space 

• Support special events and market programming such as food demonstrations, cultural celebrations, book signings, etc. 

• Facilitate and record market and Food Access LA merchandise sales, conducting periodic inventory counts  

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

• Fluency in Spanish highly preferred 

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills 

• Exceptional people skills and verbal communication skill set 

• Experience or interest in farmers’ markets, community health, nutrition, food assistance programs, and community outreach.  

• Experience working collaboratively with and ability to community effectively with a wide variety of individuals, businesses, and organizations. 

• Available Sundays 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

• Familiarity with the Hollywood Farmers’ Market or Hollywood community 

• Experience working at a Certified Farmers’ Market (vendor, management, staff, etc) 

• Experience working with underserved, low-income communities with awareness and integrity. 

PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift, talk, hear, reach, stoop, and kneel. Work will take place outside in rainy, hot, or cold weather conditions, which may occasionally require standing for up to 2 hours, or lifting up to 50 lbs. May perform related duties as assigned by management.
