Job Description
Container Welders are responsible for the repair and maintenance of shipping containers. This includes welding and fabrication of steel and aluminum components, as well as performing structural and cosmetic repairs in accordance with company standards.
The role requires the use of various tools and equipment, including welding machines, brakes, shears, plasma cutters, and oxy-fuel torches. The Container Welder is also responsible for supporting preventive maintenance activities and ensuring repairs meet safety and quality requirements.
As part of Antillean’s cross-functional work environment, this role may also support other operational areas as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform wire feed (MIG) and ARC welding on container structures
- Repair and fabricate metal container components, including panels, frames, and structural members
- Inspect containers for damage and determine appropriate repair methods
- Ensure all repairs meet company, safety, and quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe container yard and work area
- Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with preventive maintenance and safety checks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to perform repairs efficiently, accurately, and within required timeframes
- Ability to read, interpret, measure, and document repair work
- Knowledge of container repair standards (IICL/CSC) preferred
- Experience in container repair or similar metal fabrication work preferred
- Physical ability to handle heavy materials, tools, and equipment
- Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, and work in physically demanding conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience operating forklifts preferred
- Valid driver’s license for occasional use of company vehicles
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
