Consultant – Utilities & Capital Projects

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Consultant – Utilities & Capital Projects based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead complex consulting engagements within the Energy & Utilities sector.
You will work directly with senior client stakeholders to improve capital portfolios and project delivery.
The position combines strategic advisory, project leadership, relationship management, and hands-on execution.
You will guide consulting teams, develop actionable recommendations, and help clients navigate complex operational challenges.
The role provides meaningful exposure to high-visibility initiatives across private, public, and government organizations.

The position is remote and includes approximately 10–25% travel based on client and project needs.

Accountabilities

• Lead consulting engagements from initiation through completion, ensuring high-quality delivery and measurable client outcomes.

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders while serving as a strategic and reliable advisor.

• Develop strategic recommendations, analyses, and insights and communicate them effectively to executive audiences.

• Lead project teams, coordinate cross-functional contributors, and mentor junior consultants to support successful engagement delivery.

• Oversee schedules, project milestones, regulatory compliance, engineering standards, design considerations, and risk management within utility environments.

• Monitor project progress, milestones, and completion requirements while proactively identifying and addressing delivery risks.

• Contribute to business development activities and help identify opportunities to expand client relationships and consulting engagements.

• Apply relevant expertise across areas such as construction, financial management, project management, organizational design, analytical research, and industrial engineering.

• Leverage Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled workflow tools where appropriate to improve analysis, productivity, and project execution.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading consulting engagements and managing project or consulting teams.

• Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably within Energy & Utilities, capital projects, construction, or a related environment.

• Strong executive presence, with the ability to influence stakeholders, establish credibility, and build trusted client relationships.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and present strategic recommendations to senior audiences.

• Strong leadership, organization, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams, disciplines, and stakeholder groups.

• Experience managing project schedules, milestones, risks, and delivery requirements in complex environments.

• Familiarity with one or more relevant disciplines, including construction, financial management, organizational design, analytical research, or industrial engineering.

• Comfort working independently in a client-facing consulting environment while maintaining a strong focus on quality and outcomes.

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10–25% as required.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot or other AI-enabled productivity and workflow tools is a plus.
