Are you an experienced competitive gymnastics coach looking for a program where you can make a meaningful impact?

The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is looking for passionate, knowledgeable, and positive coaches to join our Tumblettes competitive gymnastics program. We are seeking coaches who are excited to develop strong athletes, build confidence, and contribute to a supportive team culture both inside and outside the gym.

Our regionally recognized program serves gymnasts competing in USAG Development Program Levels 2–9 and Xcel Bronze through Sapphire. As a member of our coaching team, you will help athletes develop their skills, prepare for competitions, overcome challenges, and reach their personal best.

This is an opportunity to do more than coach gymnastics. It is a chance to mentor young athletes, work alongside a dedicated coaching team, and be part of an organization committed to empowering youth through sport.

What You’ll Do:

• As a Competitive Team Coach, you will:
• Coach gymnasts across USAG Development Program Levels 2–9 and Xcel Bronze through Sapphire, based on your experience and areas of expertise
• Teach progressive skill development, strength, flexibility, and proper technique
• Lead practices across Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor
• Safely and confidently spot athletes at a variety of skill levels
• Develop training plans, conditioning programs, and competition preparation cycles
• Help athletes set goals and track their progress throughout the season
• Prepare athletes for meets and travel to competitions as needed
• Provide positive, constructive, and age-appropriate feedback
• Mentor athletes in a supportive and affirming manner
• Collaborate with fellow coaches to maintain consistent expectations, curriculum alignment, and a strong team culture
• Communicate professionally with athletes, families, and staff
• Support injury prevention and appropriate return-to-training progressions
• Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional training environment
• Model the YWCA’s commitment to equity, empowerment, inclusion, and positive youth development
• Travel to and attend competitions as assigned, including meets that may take place on weekends
• What We’re Looking For
• The ideal candidate is a confident and experienced competitive gymnastics coach who brings strong technical knowledge, positive energy, and a team-first mindset to every practice.

Requirements

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• At least two years of experience coaching USAG Development Program Levels 2–9 and Xcel competitive gymnastics
• Strong technical coaching and spotting skills
• Ability to coach across all four women’s gymnastics events
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, families, and program leadership
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and physically support athletes while spotting
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and encouraging training environment
• USAG Professional Membership or willingness to obtain membership immediately upon hire
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
• Preferred Experience
• Experience developing training plans, conditioning programs, and meet-preparation cycles
• Experience spotting advanced-level skills and managing athlete progressions
• Experience traveling with a competitive team
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, sports management, or a related field

Monday–Friday, 1:45–9:15 PM

Monday–Friday, 2:00–9:15 PM

Tuesday–Friday, 2:00–9:15 PM, and Saturday, 7:15 AM–2:45 PM

Part-Time Options

Monday–Friday, 3:45–9:15 PM

Tuesday–Friday, 3:45–9:15 PM, and Saturday, 7:15 AM–2:45 PM

Compensation:

$25–$32 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Physical Demands

While performing this job, the employee may be required to:

Lift equipment or physically support athletes as needed

Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move for extended periods

Use hands and arms to spot athletes, handle equipment, and operate tools or computers

Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Communicate effectively in English using appropriate grammar and vocabulary; in certain circumstances, American Sign Language, Braille, or another form of communication may also be considered acceptable

Work Environment

This position may include:

Exposure to common childhood and adult illnesses

Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions

Work in heated, air-conditioned, and ventilated facilities

Work in an environment that is typically moderately noisy and may become very noisy during practices or events

Each week, the YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester serves more than 4,000 women, children, and family members through our childcare, nursery school, after-school, summer camp, athletic, wellness, and mission-based programs. The YWCA also provides a home for 193 low-income women through our Residence.
