The Compensation Analyst supports the design, administration, and maintenance of competitive, equitable, and compliant compensation programs that align with the company’s business objectives and talent strategy.   The position is responsible for preparing and analyzing compensation/market data, supporting salary review processes, maintaining job codes and descriptions, evaluating jobs and exemption criteria, maintaining salary structures, and ensuring compensation practices are applied consistently, supported by accurate data, and compliant with applicable federal, state, and Puerto Rico wage and hour requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties: 

• Support the administration, maintenance, and consistent application of compensation programs, policies, procedures, salary structures, and pay guidelines.
• Conduct market pricing and compensation analysis using salary survey data, industry benchmarks, internal pay data, and other relevant sources to support competitive and equitable pay recommendations.
• Review job descriptions and evaluate new or revised positions to support appropriate job classification, level alignment, exemption status, and salary range placement.
• Partner with Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to provide guidance on pay decisions, offer recommendations, promotions, transfers, equity adjustments, and other compensation-related matters.
• Assist with annual compensation planning processes, including merit review, salary adjustments, incentive or bonus administration, budget tracking, data validation, reporting, and communication support.
• Maintain accurate compensation data in HR systems, spreadsheets, and related files; audit compensation information regularly to ensure completeness, consistency, and data integrity.
• Assist with preparation of compensation reports, analyses, and summaries to identify trends, pay compression concerns, internal equity considerations, market competitiveness, and potential risk areas.
• Participate in compensation surveys and assist with gathering, submitting, and validating survey data to support market competitiveness reviews.
• Ensure and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and Puerto Rico wage and hour laws, pay transparency requirements, FLSA guidelines, and internal compensation policies.
• Research and respond to compensation-related questions or discrepancies by reviewing applicable data, policies, and procedures and escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate.
• Assist with the development, maintenance, and revision of job descriptions, compensation documentation, process guides, templates, and communication materials.
• Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes, reporting, workflows, and tools to support efficiency, accuracy, and a positive employee and manager experience.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with HR partners, managers, and internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide timely, practical compensation support.
• Maintain a positive, results-oriented work environment, build partnerships within the team and across the organization, and model professionalism and teamwork.
• Handle compensation information with discretion, confidentiality, accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
• Participate, lead, and/or present in team, department, management, or other meetings as needed.
• May also support broader HR projects and initiatives.
• Perform all other duties that may be requested or assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of compensation, finance, or related analytical experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  1+ years of direct compensation experience, including compensation analysis, pay equity, market pricing, job evaluation, salary structure administration, or pay-related data analysis, is required. Working knowledge of federal, state, and Puerto Rico wage and hour requirements, FLSA classification guidelines, pay transparency requirements, and compensation compliance practices is required.  Experience in healthcare, clinical research, multi-state employers, and with remote workforce environments is preferred. A professional HR or compensation certification, such as CCP, PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent, is preferred.
 Required Skills: 

• Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PP, Teams, Sharepoint), web applications, and the ability to type proficiently (40+ wpm) 
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data validation, filtering, sorting, and analysis of large data sets.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret compensation data, identify trends, evaluate pay practices, and prepare accurate, actionable recommendations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy when handling salary data, job information, employee records, calculations, reports, and compensation recommendations.
• Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and project coordination skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain compensation data, policies, and recommendations clearly to HR partners, managers, and business leaders.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle highly sensitive compensation and employee information with discretion and professionalism.
• Well-developed interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team environment, building trusted relationships with team, co-workers, managers, and external customers.
• Must possess a high degree of professionalism, integrity, dependability, respect for others, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic. 
• Ability to work under minimal supervision, identify problems and implement solutions.
• Ability to handle highly sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner, and in compliance with privacy and company guidelines.
