Community Relations Intern

The Community Relations Intern is responsible for supporting the Community Relations staff in their role within the team’s Brand & Marketing department. In addition to special projects, the intern provides administrative support including answering and directing the department phone line, tracking post-event outreach metrics, working with our executive office to respond to fan mail, and handling the fulfilment of donation requests for the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation. Candidates should be passionate about sports philanthropy and utilize this opportunity to learn the inner workings of a professional sports team’s community outreach process, while also taking advantage of opportunities to network both internally and externally with staff mentors and community partners. 

Commitment:

This position is ideally a one-year commitment, or the equivalent of the collegiate school calendar. It is a compensated post with hours capped at 29 hours per week. Remote work opportunities are minimal.

Job Duties:

• Administers the in-kind donations process for charitable giving for Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation
• Writes letters and correspondence to fan mail, community e-mail, and other needs as necessary
• Shadows staff during meetings, assists with note taking and observing collaboration opportunities
• Oversees the maintenance of the community relations calendar of events and availability
• Works to maintain the accuracy of the Corporate Partnerships community relations tracker
• Connects with Branding to maintain the accuracy of the community efforts within the overall Branding calendar
• Provides onsite support at events or post-event support such as media coverage recaps
• Provides administrative support to the Community Relations department
• Performs other functions and activities as assigned by the supervisor/manager
• Tracks post-event metrics in department CRM system

Qualifications:

• Seeking a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, other sports related field, or non-profit management program preferred
• Prior volunteerism or community engagement experience is not required, but preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, with knowledge of Adobe creative products a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
• Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
• Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure
• Able to work well within a team environment, offering assistance and support to team members whenever necessary
• Able to balance internal priorities with client expectations
• Able to take direction and initiative should downtime occur
• Ability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance, stand for hours, bend, lean, squat, and/or sit as needed throughout the day
