Supervises: None

Hybrid Schedule (subject to change): In-office 1 day a week either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Remote work on other days as suited to schedule. Must be available for in-person community convenings and events during evenings or weekends as needed, with an event approximately every 1-2 months. 

Position Budgeted: $25/hr

Position Summary:

The Latino Equity Fund (LEF) Intern will work closely with the Community Impact Officer (CIO) to support the fund’s community impact strategy. The Intern will work with the CIO to provide project management and research support for LEF’s programmatic work. The Latino Equity Fund sits within the Boston Foundation’s Philanthropy Group and works closely with all departments within the Boston Foundation. 

This role will work in a hybrid environment (see above) with a mix of in-office and virtual work for a total of 10-15 hours per week during the 2026-2027 school year (16 weeks for Fall 2026 semester, 16 weeks for Spring 2027 semester). Flexibility for school schedules. 

Essential Functions:

• Community Engagement 
  • Provide support for event planning and day-of logistics for community events; 
  • Participate in meetings with community partners; and  
  • Support communication with community partners.  

• Research on Latinos in MA relative to nonprofit infrastructure, housing, education, healthcare and workforce development, wealth gap and demographic trends, and civic engagement;

• Assist with LEF’s grantmaking and the Poderosas Fellowship 
  • Coordinate the grantmaking review process, including external communications; and 
  • Serve as a liaison between LEF and community partners. 
• Conduct research on nonprofits and the broader nonprofit sector to identify potential partners and issues affecting the Latinx community;
• Maintain accurate records of grantee and community partner contacts; and 
• Provide administrative support for the Poderosas Fellowship program.

Qualifications

Preparation, Knowledge, Previous Experience:

• 1+ years of experience working in a professional setting; and
• Experience with nonprofit fundraising and/or programming preferred. 

Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

• Interest in the goals of the Latino Equity Fund and familiarity of the needs facing Greater Boston’s Latinx community preferred; 
• Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate simultaneous projects and successfully prioritize among multiple tasks within a fast-paced initiative;  
• Careful and methodical approach to tasks and attention to detail;
• Ability to work effectively across diverse backgrounds;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;  
• Proactive, participative work style and the ability to receive and act on feedback;  
• Ability to work independently;
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred; and
• Able to maintain a professional and collaborative approach.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

• Ability to work for long periods of time at a workstation;
• Ability to use a computer monitor and keyboard for long periods of time; and
• Ability to work onsite and remotely, as required.
