We provide supportive services for individuals wanting to start the immigration process through Family-Based Immigration, Asylum, Temporary Protected Status, the Violence Against Women Act, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, T-Visa, & U-Visa. We also offer free citizenship workshops & resources to help you on your naturalization journey. Beyond immigration, we also lead community-centered initiatives such as the Asian Language Legal Intake Project (ALLIP), the Survivor & Family Empowerment (SAFE) Project, the Housing Preservation (HP) Program, & our Health Access Project (HAP). In addition, our Demographic Research Project (DRP) & Community Engagement (CE) teams drive data-informed strategies & grassroots partnerships that deepen our impact across Southern California. Our Impact Litigation Team looks to create systemic change for our communities, while our Policy Team continues to shape laws & local practices that impact millions of Asian American & immigrant families across California.

QualificationsAbout the Role

The Community Engagement Navigator is a multi-faceted member of a dynamic team that works closely with community members & most of Advancing Justice Southern California’s programs. The Community Engagement Navigator will be working directly with community members, including but not limited to: case management & service navigation, community outreach & education, & community partner relationship-building.

Working directly with vulnerable limited-English proficient community members, the Community Engagement Navigator will provide direct navigation assistance services, in addition to legal services provided by AJSOCAL programs. The Community Engagement Navigator will also promote the services provided by AJSOCAL by cultivating relationships with community partners & actively engaging in community outreach opportunities (e.g., community events, media engagements, & social media activities). The Community Navigator will be working closely with community members who are victims of anti-Asian discrimination, survivors of domestic violence, & clients of AJSOCAL programs. This is a fixed term position & IS covered under the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

65% - Community Engagement & Outreach:

Promote AAD program & other AJSOCAL programs by engaging community members in traditional & creative forms of community outreach
Cultivate community partnerships with community-based organizations, community organizers, government departments, media, & other groups that provide benefits & services
Present Bystander Intervention training, upon completion of certification training
Communication liaison between the community/external organizations & AJSOCAL – promoting AJSOCAL’s services & capacity to external organizations; feeding relevant community news to AJSOCAL’s various program units
Lead outreach campaigns of assigned direct service unit(s), including developing media & budget plan & presenting at workshops
Translate or create language specific outreach & community education content for various channels & usage

25% - Case Navigation & Client Engagement:

Provide rapid-response case navigation & accompaniment client services
Assist clients in obtaining non-legal services & benefits provided by supportive agencies & community partners
Advocate for clients in obtaining legal services, support our Asian Language Intake Program
Support policy/litigation efforts

10% - Reporting & Data Tracking:

Perform administrative duties including but not limited to inputting intakes into database & filing
Provide timely & accurate data collection & tracking for client services & interactions
Assist with grant management & reporting, as needed
All other duties as assigned

All positions are subject to funding, and non-collective bargaining unit positions are also at will.
