Job Description

Responsible for strategic management of assigned commodities for Alto-Shaam, including negotiating and managing supplier agreements that deliver cost savings, innovation, and risk mitigation. This role will drive supplier engagement, discovery of new technologies, and early supplier involvement in NPD (New Product Development). Build strong partnerships with suppliers to enable cost-out initiatives, technology introduction, and long-term agreements aligned with Alto-Shaam’s business objectives.

The ideal candidate for a Commodity Manager - Electronics would be able to do the following:

Commodity Strategy & Management

• Develop and execute cross-functionally aligned global sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, balancing short-term and long-term objectives to achieve goals in quality, cost, and availability.
• Lead contract negotiations and agreement management, ensuring terms incentivize innovation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate global commodity market trends and emerging technologies to influence design and sourcing decisions.
• Identify alternate suppliers and materials to reduce cost and improve performance, supporting innovation and risk mitigation.
• Conduct research on market dynamics, cost drivers, and supplier capabilities to enhance negotiations and strategic decisions.

Performance

• Drive year-over-year cost improvement programs through supplier collaboration and value engineering.
• Measure and manage supplier performance using KPIs; communicate results regularly.
• Manage the full lifecycle of sourcing projects, including planning, bid preparation, negotiation, contracting, and reporting.
• Understand demand and supply constraints and develop global order plans to ensure continuity and manage EOL sub-components for printed circuit board and electronic controls.
• Implement and manage long-term agreements that deliver best-in-class quality, delivery, and lowest total cost.

Relationship Management

• Build strategic partnerships with suppliers to enable early involvement in NPD and technology roadmaps.
• Lead supplier business reviews focused on innovation, cost reduction, and agreement compliance.
• Manage supplier relationships, communicate risks/opportunities, and recommend alternatives to reduce costs and supply risks.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement methods for improving quality and service.
• Facilitate communication between internal stakeholders and suppliers to align requirements and expectations.
• Support cross-functional teams in identifying and implementing cost-out opportunities during product lifecycle.
• Champion supplier engagement programs that reward performance and innovation

Qualifications

For a candidate to be successful as an Commodity Manager - Electronics they must have:

• Strong experience in contract negotiation and supplier agreement management.
• Procurement and sourcing experience in electronics controls, contracted PCB’s, input/output boards, and controls systems/software through contract manufacturers.
• Experience developing and implementing commodity strategies and supplier-led innovation programs.
• Proven record of delivering year-over-year cost savings and driving technology introduction.
• Ability to develop and interpret total cost of ownership models.
• Collaborative team player with strong networking, influencing, and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; minimum 5 years in supply management or engineering.
• Ability to travel domestically (up to 25-40%) and if needed working remotely
• Preferred: Experience in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environments; purchasing experience in high-mix, low-volume industries
