College of Business & Management Data Analytics Intern

Job Summary: 

East Stroudsburg University is one
of two institutions in Pennsylvania where students learn about and are
seamlessly certified in data analytics through our exclusive partnership with
SAS, Statistical Analysis Systems. ESU students who are pursuing the certification
and/or minor are eligible to complete an internship where they can apply what
they have learned to create real world industry solutions. The Data Analytics
Intern role is a project-based experiential learning opportunity with an ESU
Work-Based Learning employer/partner. Major responsibilities include assisting
the site supervisor(s) with the organization and management of large data sets,
completing tasks associated with data coding, collection, scrubbing, analysis,
and visualization, and otherwise contributing to the data-driven
decision-making process. Work may involve collaboration as a team or
independent assignments that foster intellectual growth by active participation
in the WBL employer’s/partner’s business operations.

Duties: 

• Through research, develop and maintain an
  understanding of the employer’s industry and needs.             
• Assist the design and delivery of applications that focus on data
  collection from various input sources ensuring that there is a quality
  mechanism in place for data collection and consistency in tracking.
• Review and analyze data from
  multiple sources to create a cohesive, easy to understand situational presentation to support site supervisor.
• Utilize machine learning, modeling programs, and statistical
  techniques to extract insights from various data sources.
• Develop reports to reinforce the site supervisors lead that emphasize relevant
  trends, metrics and benchmarks that can highlight key performance indicators
  for various focus areas.
• Create visualizations and storytelling with
  data by developing business-related dashboards that appeal to target audiences’
  interest and facilitate ease-of-use.
• Assist
  in generating solutions through data-driven insights.
• Understand and apply sound data governance practices.
• Participate
  in scoping data analytics projects.
• Document
  and train other data users as needed. 

Qualifications:

• Completing a bachelor’s degree that includes a
  data analytics minor or certification coursework.    
• Possesses an outstanding work ethic, a sense of urgency to
  meet established deadlines, has good communication skills – listening with
  ability to communicate clearly and concisely to others.
• Requires a semester long commitment with break weeks and
  scheduled vacation off.
• Proficient
  in Python, Power BI, SAS, Microsoft Office applications; web conferencing tools
  such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams; and social media platforms such as LinkedIn
  and Twitter.
• Experience working in a project-based environment with
  effective results of participation.  

Technical Skills:

• High proficiency using SAS and
  associated SAS tools.
• High
  proficiency in use of a technical tool to organize, manage, analyze, and
  visualize

Additional Information: 

• Hourly Rate of Pay $15 to $20 based on experience
• Up to 20 hours per week
