Colleague Programmer/Technical Consultants

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Colleague Programmer/Technical Consultant based in the United States.

This remote consulting opportunity is designed for experienced Ellucian Colleague professionals supporting higher education institutions.
You will help clients enhance, migrate, integrate, and administer their Colleague environments while improving system performance and data accuracy.
The role spans technical development, integrations, system administration, migrations, testing, reporting, and end-user support.
You will collaborate with functional and technical teams to assess existing processes and design effective future-state solutions.
Depending on client needs, you may contribute to implementations, database migrations, integrations, upgrades, and technical troubleshooting.
The position offers flexibility and exposure to varied higher education projects, allowing you to apply and expand your technical expertise.
Your work will directly support institutions in making better use of their technology, processes, data, and systems.

Accountabilities

• Develop and maintain Colleague integrations using technologies and tools such as Ethos APIs, Ethos Integration, Ellucian Experience Cards, Data Connect, Colleague SDK for .NET, SFTP, and ELF Imports.

• Perform programming, technical analysis, configuration, and testing using Colleague Studio.

• Support Colleague and Ellucian module implementations, enhancements, and technical projects.

• Contribute to Unidata-to-SQL migrations and related data transformation initiatives.

• Install, configure, patch, clone, and maintain base Colleague applications and related environments.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the Colleague software suite.

• Administer and monitor Colleague systems to maintain availability, performance, and data integrity.

• Manage system backups, updates, releases, and other ongoing technical maintenance activities.

• Develop and maintain reports using tools such as SQL Reporting Services, CROA, ODS, Informer, and other reporting technologies.

• Support integrations involving APIs, databases, and other institutional systems.

• Assist with the implementation and administration of Colleague Self-Service, WebAPI, and Ethos.

• Install and maintain SSL certificates and application or database patches.

• Provide technical guidance and training to end users and client teams.

• Collaborate with functional and technical stakeholders to evaluate current processes and design improved solutions.

• Participate in architecture, development, testing, training, and rollout activities based on individual client requirements.

• Adapt to varying client environments and project requirements while maintaining strong communication and service quality.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience working with Ellucian Colleague, preferably within higher education institutions.

• Strong experience across Colleague modules, with the ability to support diverse institutional environments.

• Demonstrated experience with Colleague programming, system administration, configuration, and technical support.

• Experience with Colleague Studio and related development and testing activities.

• Strong report-writing capabilities using SQL Reporting Services, CROA, ODS, Informer, or comparable reporting tools.

• Experience with Colleague Self-Service, Ellucian Experience, WebAPI, and Ethos.

• Experience developing and supporting API integrations using relevant Colleague and Ellucian technologies.

• Experience with application and database patching, installation, configuration, and maintenance.

• Experience installing and managing SSL certificates.

• Strong SQL skills and practical experience with relational database technologies such as SQL Server and Oracle, as well as Unidata.

• Experience with data migration and ETL processes.

• Experience with Colleague SaaS migrations is highly beneficial.

• Experience with Unidata-to-SQL migrations is highly beneficial.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with functional and technical teams.

• Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical guidance for higher education stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple client projects, priorities, and technical requirements in a remote consulting environment.
