Cloud Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Architect based in United States.

As Cloud Architect, you will provide senior technical leadership for the architecture, migration, and modernization of enterprise applications within secure AWS environments.
You will translate complex federal mission requirements into resilient, scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
The role focuses on n-tier and service-oriented architectures integrating multiple commercial off-the-shelf products across complex enterprise environments.
You will establish reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards while guiding engineering teams from solution design through production operations.
Security and compliance will be embedded throughout the architecture, with solutions aligned to DoD, NIST, RMF, and FedRAMP requirements.
You will collaborate with government stakeholders, program managers, engineers, and security teams to deliver mission-ready cloud capabilities.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced AWS architect who can balance technical excellence, operational resilience, security, and cost efficiency.

Accountabilities:

• Design and document enterprise-level, n-tier, and service-oriented architectures integrating multiple COTS products, with a focus on interoperability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of secure AWS solutions across compute, storage, networking, identity, data, and security services.
• Develop cloud migration and modernization strategies, including rehosting, replatforming, and refactoring legacy and COTS-based workloads.
• Define reusable reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards across programs.
• Architect solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, performance, scalability, and cost optimization across multi-tier application environments.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD approaches that enable repeatable, automated, and auditable deployments.
• Integrate security and compliance requirements into architecture and delivery in accordance with DoD, NIST 800-53, RMF, and FedRAMP frameworks.
• Support Authority to Operate activities and collaborate with security teams to address compliance and authorization requirements.
• Work closely with government stakeholders, program managers, engineers, and security professionals to align technical solutions with mission objectives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams and conduct architecture and design reviews.
• Evaluate emerging AWS services and COTS technologies and recommend solutions that improve capability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience designing enterprise-level, n-tier, service-oriented applications incorporating multiple COTS products.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification required.
• Demonstrated experience serving as an AWS Solutions Architect and designing and deploying production workloads in AWS.
• Deep knowledge of core AWS services, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and related networking and security services.
• Proven experience integrating and architecting solutions around multiple COTS products within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of n-tier, service-oriented, and microservices architectures, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation and CI/CD tooling.
• Working knowledge of federal and DoD security frameworks, including NIST 800-53, Risk Management Framework (RMF), FedRAMP, and the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate mission requirements into practical technical architectures.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with government stakeholders, technical teams, program leadership, and security professionals.
