Clinical Supervisor - Crisis Services

Overview

St. Joseph’s Villa is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical leadership across Crisis Services, including the Crisis Receiving Center (CRC) and Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Clinical Services and in collaboration with the Crisis Services Director, this position oversees clinical quality, supervision, assessment, treatment planning, documentation, authorization, discharge planning, and clinical program operations.

The Clinical Supervisor ensures services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate, family-centered, and compliant with applicable DBHDS, DMAS/Medicaid, Human Rights, licensing, accreditation, payer, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to assigned clinical staff.
• Oversee clinical assessments, diagnoses, service plans, crisis interventions, safety plans, continued-stay requests, and discharge planning.
• Conduct ongoing and random clinical record reviews to ensure documentation is accurate, timely, individualized, and compliant.
• Monitor clinical quality indicators, medical necessity, and service delivery standards.
• Develop and implement corrective action and clinical remediation plans based on audits, quality findings, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide clinical consultation during high-risk situations, treatment-team meetings, complex admissions/discharges, and on-call coverage.
• Ensure clinical staff maintain required competencies through supervision, coaching, observation, training, and professional development.
• Participate in interviewing, onboarding, performance evaluation, corrective action, and hiring/termination recommendations for assigned clinical staff.
• Collaborate with operations, nursing, psychiatry, direct-service staff, families, referral sources, and community providers.
• Support licensing, accreditation, payer, Medicaid, and regulatory reviews and provide clinical documentation and evidence as needed.
• Develop and recommend clinical policies, procedures, documentation standards, workflows, and practice guidelines.
• Promote effective family engagement, care coordination, community partnerships, and safe transitions from services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral-health field.
• Current Virginia clinical license such as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or another license appropriate to the assigned clinical functions.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory or clinical leadership experience.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in crisis, behavioral-health assessment, treatment planning, safety planning, clinical documentation, authorization, and discharge planning.
• Knowledge of DBHDS, DMAS/Medicaid, Human Rights, payer, privacy, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows, Outlook, electronic health records, and related technology.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
