The Clinical Laboratory Technologist Generalist is responsible for performance of diagnostic procedures in the area for which they are assigned. This position requires an individual who is highly skilled in areas that they are licensed. This individual helps maintain an excellent rapport between Laboratory staff and other hospital departments.

Responsibilities

1. Scheduling flexibility.

2. Meets attendance policy- absence and tardy

3. Leaves bench assigned stocked, communicates clearly with other shift using log/verbal, notes or other appropriate tools.

4. Completes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frame including Turnaround time, proficiency testing

5. Performs routine patient testing including identification, preparation, specimen collection, handling, processing, testing and reporting including Critical results according to Lab standards.

6. Reports and records timely and correctly results including patient , QC ,proficiency testing, preventative maintenance records

7. Operation of assigned Lab instruments including reviewing of QC, maintenance and function checks

8. Engages in departmental/hospital committees, PI projects, educational offerings to peers, mentoring/precepting of new team members

9. Attends Staff Meetings, completes all required competencies and mandatory education as assigned.

10. Seeks training, educational, certification and enhancement in area focus/specialty.

11. Demonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, peers, patients and family members.

12. Completes other duties as requested/assigned

Qualifications

Education

Required: Associate's degree in MLT or related field  

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Active Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license (TN)

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
