Position Overview:

Addresses the nutritional issues that arise from medical conditions, including surgical support, weight concerns, dietary guidelines for food allergies and intolerances, and lifestyle change support related to nutrition and diet. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

NUTRITIONAL SERVICES
• Provides clinical inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy (MNT) including nutrition education, assessment and treatment to patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric.
• Delivers Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) to patients with diabetes, pre diabetes, or diabetes-related diseases.
• Interprets data to formulate a comprehensive nutrition assessment and consultation that determines requirements for treatment, precautions to be observed and required education, and modifies plan as needed.
• Educates the patient on the therapy or treatment in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety.
• Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
CLERICAL
• Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones; updating patient appointments; or retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic health records (EHR).
• Prepares and completes accurate documentation related to patient, including all therapy performed in medical and departmental records.
SAFETY
• Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after each use.
COMPLIANCE
• Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
• Performs care in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.
• Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.
EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's: Food and Nutrition, Dietetics or related field. or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
RD-Registered Dietitian
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
2 years experience requires basic clinical and practical experience as a Registered Dietician

Pay Range is $53.25 to $74.55 / hour

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
