We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and collaborative Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

(SLPA) to join our growing outpatient clinic in Bakersfield. Working under the supervision of a licensed

Speech-Language Pathologist, you'll help patients of all ages achieve meaningful communication goals

Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-

Language Pathologist to provide speech and language therapy services in an outpatient clinical setting.

This role focuses on implementing individualized treatment plans, supporting patient progress, collecting

treatment data, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with patients, families,

caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to promote successful communication outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities

Therapy Implementation

• Provide direct speech and language therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-

Language Pathologist.

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP.

• Provide individual and group therapy sessions in the outpatient clinic.

• Utilize evidence-based intervention strategies to address speech, language, cognitive-

communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders within the SLPA scope of practice.

Patient Care

• Support patients in developing communication skills that improve participation in home, school,

work, and community environments.

• Reinforce therapeutic strategies introduced by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.

• Encourage patient and caregiver participation to maximize treatment outcomes.

Data Collection & Progress Monitoring

• Collect accurate treatment data during therapy sessions.

• Monitor patient progress toward established treatment goals.

• Report patient performance and observations to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.

• Assist with preparation of progress documentation as directed.

Collaboration

• Work closely with supervising Speech-Language Pathologists to ensure high-quality patient care.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, physicians, educators, and other

healthcare professionals, as appropriate.

• Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and care coordination activities.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain timely and accurate therapy documentation and service records.

• Ensure documentation complies with company policies, payer requirements, and applicable

state and federal regulations.

• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company privacy policies.

Professional Responsibilities

• Practice within the California SLPA scope of practice and supervision requirements.

• Maintain all required California licensure and certifications.

• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

• Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and a commitment to clinical excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related

field.

• Current, active California Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license.

• CPR and First Aid certification.

• Previous experience working with pediatric and/or adult patients in an outpatient, rehabilitation,

healthcare, or educational setting is preferred.

• Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare

professionals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with patients of all ages.

• Understanding of speech and language development and communication disorders.

• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment strategies appropriate for the SLPA scope of practice.

• Ability to adapt intervention techniques to meet individual patient needs.

• Proficiency using electronic documentation systems and technology.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour. Available benefits include the following; eligibility is based on employment

status and applicable plan terms.

Position Details

Reports to: Director of People & Communications/Lead SLP

Classification: Full-time or part-time; non-exempt.

Work demands: This role routinely involves sitting, standing, moving through the clinic, communicating

with patients and team members, and using a computer for clinical and administrative work. It may

occasionally involve lifting or moving items up to 20 pounds. These responsibilities are performed with

or without reasonable accommodation.
