Client Transportation Specialist - Emergency Shelter

LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking for a Client Transportation Specialist to join our Emergency Shelter team!

The Client Transportation Specialist is a part-time position responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for clients of the Emergency Shelter. The position supports continuity of client services by coordinating and providing transportation throughout the community, including transportation to school, appointments, employment-related activities, medical care, and other approved destinations. The Specialist works closely with shelter staff to support client schedules, safety, and access to essential services while representing LifeWorks in a professional and client-centered manner. 

This part-time, non-exempt position earns a competitive rate ranging from $22.00 - $25.07/hr depending upon experience. The schedules offered with this role are an AM and PM shift and does not exceed 15 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates transportation for clients to a variety of activities such as, getting clients to and from school, client appointments, job interviews, emergency room visits, etc.
• Provides safe, timely, and dependable transportation using both personal and agency vehicles and follows established transportation, vehicle safety, and client supervision procedures.
• Communicates with shelter staff regarding transportation schedules, changes, delays, client needs, and other information necessary to coordinate services effectively.
• Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and provides respectful, client-centered support while transporting youth and young adults in the community.
• Completes required transportation documentation, vehicle logs, mileage records, incident reports, and other records accurately and timely.
• Conducts basic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and promptly reports vehicle maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns according to agency procedures.
• Follows all applicable traffic laws, LifeWorks policies, confidentiality requirements, and safety expectations while operating an agency vehicle and interacting with clients.
• Supports transportation needs that may vary based on client schedules and shelter operations, including school, medical, employment, and other time-sensitive appointments.
• If client transport is not needed during the employee’s work time, employee will help with basic administrative tasks or may run program related errands such as grocery shopping, picking up client belongings from their case worker or family’s residence, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED, preferred.
• Previous experience providing transportation, working in youth services, human services, or a related client-service environment preferred.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate to locations throughout the community required.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, coworkers, schools, service providers, and community partners required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, reliability, and sound judgment when supporting clients required.

• Required to possess a valid Texas driver's license and insurance.
