Job Description
Meriwether Godsey is looking for Temporary/On-Call Catering Bartenders responsible for providing our guests with the finest drink service, accompanied by attentive and gracious service, for catering events at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA.
- Must be available to work as follows: 4pm or 5pm-9pm or 10pm weekdays & weekends when needed
- $17-$18 per hour (based on experience)
What you will do:
- Make and serve mixed alcoholic beverages and additional hot/cold beverages
- Greet and interact with customers while displaying a positive and friendly attitude
- Pour, serve draft and bottled beer, and other drinks and beverages
- Check the identification of customers to ensure that they are of legal drinking age
- Operate cash registers, collect payments from customers, and return change
- Maintain bar inventory to ensure a smooth flow of service
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation, including, but not limited to, breakdown bar/beverage area, sweep and mop service area, empty trash cans, etc.
What you need:
- 1-2 years of bartending experience required
- Catering event experience preferred
- Familiarity with state and local laws regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages
- TIPS Certification preferred but not required
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent communication and good organizational skills
- Flexibility: ability to switch between locations and job duties
- Ability to carry 30lbs+ and to stand for 5-6 hours
