Caswell Summer Staff

Position Summary

Summer Staff members play a vital role in the ministry and operations of Fort Caswell during the summer season. Through their service, Summer Staff help create an environment where campers, church groups, families, and guests can experience Christian community, encounter the Gospel, and grow in their relationship with Christ.

Summer Staff serve in a variety of operational and ministry-focused roles across campus while contributing to the mission of Fort Caswell through hospitality, teamwork, servant leadership, and Christian witness. In addition to serving guests, Summer Staff participate in a unique opportunity for spiritual growth, discipleship, leadership development, and Christian community alongside fellow staff members.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support the mission and ministry of Fort Caswell through faithful service and Christ-centered leadership.

• Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for campers, guests, and fellow staff members.

• Perform assigned duties and responsibilities within an assigned work area.

• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, flexibility, and a willingness to serve wherever needed.

• Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow staff members to accomplish departmental and organizational goals.

• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, worship services, Bible studies, and spiritual development opportunities.

• Follow all Fort Caswell policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

• Represent Fort Caswell and the North Carolina Baptist ministry in a manner consistent with Christian values and conduct.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age by the start of employment. Applicants who are 18 years of age or older are preferred for most positions.

• Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a willingness to support the mission and values of Fort Caswell.

• Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and servant-minded approach to ministry.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact positively with guests of all ages.

• Willingness to learn, grow, and receive direction from supervisors and leadership.

• Ability to fulfill the requirements of an assigned work area and maintain expected standards of performance and conduct.

Work Environment

Summer Staff members live, work, worship, and serve together in a Christ-centered community dedicated to advancing the mission of Fort Caswell and investing in the spiritual growth of both guests and staff. Staff should be prepared to work in a fast-paced ministry environment while maintaining a positive attitude and commitment to serving others.

The Summer Staff experience is designed not only to support the ministry of Fort Caswell but also to invest in the spiritual, personal, and leadership development of each staff member. Through worship, discipleship, mentorship, service, and community, Summer Staff are encouraged to deepen their faith while making a lasting impact on the lives of others.

Summer Staff members are expected to contribute positively to the Christian community of Fort Caswell and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the organization's mission, values, and standards of behavior.

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements vary by work group and may include standing for extended periods, walking across campus, lifting supplies or equipment, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and performing duties associated with assigned responsibilities.

• Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate preferred work groups during the application process. Placement will be based on applicant qualifications, experience, staffing needs, and organizational priorities.

• Applicants must be available to serve for the duration of the summer season, which typically runs from mid-to-late May through the second week of August.

• On-campus housing and meals are provided for Summer Staff throughout the duration of employment.

• Applicants are required to provide three references as part of the application process.

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and all required employment documentation.

• Summer Staff should be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by ministry and operational needs.

• Summer Staff may be asked to assist in areas outside their primary assignment as operational needs arise.
