Casual PA or CRNP, Inpatient Rehab Center (CIRU) - UPMC Western Maryland

Western Maryland Physician Services is hiring a Casual Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support their Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (CIRU).

Hours: 8-hour shifts every Friday, on-call Saturday and Sunday

Location: UPMC Western Maryland

Position Specifics: 100%25 of time will be spent within inpatient rehab nursing

Department Details: The Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (CIRU) is CARF-accredited in Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke Specialty Program for Adults. As part of the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, this 13-bed unit provides medical rehabilitation in a hospital setting for adults who need coordinated therapy, nursing care, and physician oversight after illness, injury, or stroke.

Responsibilities:

This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): 

• The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required 
• BSN, MSN is preferred 
• Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred 
• Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required 
• National certification, eligible for licensure by Maryland board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Marlylandstate board of nursing 
• Current CPR certification is required 
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Physician Assistant (PA):  

• A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required 
• BS or MS candidate is preferred 
• Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred 
• Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required 
• Current CPR certification is required  
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Master's degree in Nurse Practitioner Program (Maryland Approved) required

The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required, State of Maryland National board certification, eligible for licensure by Maryland board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Maryland state board of nursing Current CPR certification is required 

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
