What You'll Do

As our Cashier, you'll be one of the first and last faces our guests see. You'll welcome guests, help manage the flow of the dining room, assist with seating, answer phones, take carry-out orders, and process payments.

You'll help keep the front of the restaurant organized and welcoming while jumping in to support your teammates wherever needed.

No two shifts look exactly the same, and that's part of the fun.

You'll Spend Your Time

Creating an amazing guest experience

• Greet guests warmly, ask about seating preferences, and escort them to the appropriate table
• Review seating assignments and seat guests according to availability and station assignments
• Distribute menus and promote current specials, events, and promotions
• Maintain a friendly and positive attitude throughout the shift
• Assist guests with special requests or needs
• Monitor the guest waiting list and help manage the flow of the dining room
• Answer guest questions and provide accurate information
• Help create a welcoming first and last impression for every guest

Taking great care of carry-out guests

• Answer incoming phone calls and greet guests by phone
• Take clear and accurate food and beverage orders
• Follow Home Run Inn phone procedures and sales scripts
• Recommend menu items and suggest additional items for purchase
• Quote prices, describe menu items, and answer general questions
• Process carry-out orders and ensure guests receive the correct products
• Distribute carry-out, catering, and promotional menus and materials
• Assist with restaurant marketing by sharing current promotions and materials

Handling payments accurately

• Operate the POS system and process guest orders
• Calculate bills and prepare itemized tickets
• Accept cash and other forms of payment
• Provide correct change and receipts
• Use the POS system, calculator, and phone confidently and accurately

Keeping the front of house guest-ready

• Maintain clean and organized front entrance and host/cashier areas
• Keep menus clean and ensure they contain appropriate information
• Complete daily cleaning checklists
• Help maintain the cleanliness of the games area, display cases, bathrooms, lobby, and other guest areas
• Assist with bussing and resetting tables during busy periods
• Assist with stocking shelf items, soda, paper goods, condiments, and other merchandise
• Follow restaurant appearance and cleanliness standards

Supporting the team

• Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen teammates, hosts, and management
• Help maintain a smooth flow of guests and orders during busy periods
• Jump in to support other front-of-house duties as needed
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned

The Host and Phone/Cashier descriptions both emphasize guest interaction, POS/cash handling, phone orders, menu recommendations, front-of-house cleanliness, stocking, and supporting the restaurant team.

What You'll Bring

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Previous customer service or cash-handling experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Team-oriented mindset
• Ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift, reach, bend, and stoop throughout the shift
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to approximately 5 hours
• Working knowledge of the predominant language of our guests
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Food Handler certification required within 30 days of hire
• Safety shoes required within 30 days of hire
