Summary
City Market Co-Op is seeking a Cashier with strong communication and customer service skills, ideally with prior experience in customer service or retail and/or a drive to learn!

Day-to-Day Duties
- Operating cash registers.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area.
- Interacting with and helping customers; duties include answering questions and assisting with member applications.
- Compliance with established City Market procedures and practices regarding operations, sales, safety, and security.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months of cash handling experience OR one year of customer service experience strongly preferred OR demonstrated willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of natural and conventional foods and the food industry helpful.

City Market provides a critical service to the residents of Burlington and the larger community by providing local, organic, and conventional foods, as well as thousands of Vermont products, at a fair price to all. The Co-op is also dedicated to supporting the local economy and enhancing the sustainability of agriculture. We work with over 1,000 Vermont vendors to feature the widest selection of local products in the state. 73% of the vendors we do business with are located in Vermont and over 60 cents of every dollar in sales stays here in Vermont. We are Member-owned, so the profits generated by Co-op Members are returned to our Members (in profitable years) through our Patronage Refund program. Additionally, as a Co-op, we offer Members the opportunity to do Member Work in exchange for a discount. This Member Work is done with our non-profit community partners, providing them with much needed volunteer help.
