GAP Ministries: Case Aide.

STATUS: PT or FT / Hourly / Exempt from Overtime

PAY: : $15.50 per hour to start, dependent on education and experience. There is a $2/hour Differential pay increase for time supervised with children and parents during visit. 

SCHEDULE: Visitations are scheduled daily, 2 to 4 times a week, typically when children are not in school, including Saturdays and Sundays. 

Full Time (35-40 hours weekly); at least one weekend day with 2 days off earlier in the week is needed for full time status.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide safe transportation of children to family visitations with non-custodial parents, providing oversight to ensure the safety and protection of the children. Supervise parent-child visits at the selected sites as per agency and case-specific guidelines. Be a part of helping children and their moms and dads spend quality time together on the path to reuniting their families in a healthy manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Supervise parent-child visits at the selected sites as per agency and case-specific guidelines.
• Observe and document (within 24 hours) interaction between children and their parents; and intervene, if necessary, as per agency regulations.
•  Successfully use TBRI strategies and techniques to redirect child behavior. Maintain calm yet playful demeanor when interacting with children in care. Build trust with children and co-workers.
• Engage with the children in an appropriate manner following the GAP Ministries Behavior Management Plan and trauma model (TBRI), CPI strategies and state regulatory requirements.
•  Provide direct care of children and steward visits for the children in care by creating a safe, nurturing environment while implementing positive behavior plans and behavior modifying techniques following GAP’s Behavior Management Plan, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) strategies, and state regulatory requirements.
• Follow outlined policies and procedures for dealing with children and duties. As well as GAP Ministries’ employee policies and procedures.
• Attend pre-service and in-service trainings and team meetings as scheduled.
• Ensure records are maintained in compliance with federal/state/local regulations. Complete all paperwork in a prompt and careful manner, keeping records confidential. Completing and submitting paper and/or computer documentation on due dates. This includes but is not limited to the following:

o    Records of assignments performed

o    Accurate and punctual time record

o    Time off requests

o    Mileage log

o    Reimbursements

• Agree to flexible hours. Primary purpose is to support the ministry as needed. Flexibility and reliability is critical in meeting ministry, case and State requirements; reliability includes checking schedule/calendar multiple times a day.
• Immediately contact the Manager or Program Director regarding serious concerns or immediate questions. Report unusual incidents as required.
• Testify as requested at the Juvenile Court, FCRB, etc.
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions or make arrangements with supervisor to review video of missed meeting or training.
• Provide childcare and transportation as per agency regulations.
• Clean visit areas and toys as needed to maintain a safe, germ-free, and welcoming environment for visits.
• Maintain a positive attitude reflecting an approach style of bringing solutions not problems to the team.
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good judgment.
• Represent GAP Ministries to the public in a positive, responsible manner.
• Follow agency chain of command in a responsible and supportive manner.
• Personally grow in leadership and spiritual life to exemplify the characteristics of a cultural champion.
• Schedule and follow up with families regarding ongoing visits or services with the agency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA in social service/related field, preferred, at least High School Diploma or GED equivalent as evidenced by a school transcript, diploma, or certificate.
• Child development knowledge/good parenting skills; ability to perceptively observe child-parent interaction; ability to exercise authority and be assertive when needed.
• Good writing skills and good oral communication skills.
• Able to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Dependable, flexible, punctual, strong work ethic and service oriented.
• Organized with the ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit mature judgment and emotional stability.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to perform job duties at irregular hours including the weekend.
• Proven ability to effectively function in a multi-faceted agency in a teamwork manner.
• Cell phone with wide range service, navigation app, text messaging, and voicemail and computer with Internet access.
• Bilingual is preferred but not required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Have at least one (1) year of experience in the Human Service Field (i.e. Group Home, Shelter Care, Behavioral Health Home) working with children, as verified on a resume.
• High School Diploma or possess a GED equivalent as evidenced by a school transcript or certificate.
• Successful completion of state and agency training courses.
• Successfully pass FBI fingerprint clearance check and procure a Fingerprint Clearance Card. Successful clearance of Criminal Background Check(s), Central Registry in Arizona and any state(s) lived in within 5 years of hire, Driving Record Check, Drug Screen, and verification of legal ability to work in the United States. GAP Ministries is a drug-free workplace and requires drug screening of all new employees as well as random screenings to ensure enforcement of this policy.
• Own a smart phone capable of accessing, including but not limited to the Internet, email, and online time and attendance system/application.
• Proficient in the use of a personal computer and corresponding programs; preferably experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail and Google Calendar or similar web-based and computer programs.
• Successful confirmation of reference checks of those listed on application.
• Must have a valid driver license in effect for at least 5 years, meet the insurability requirements of GAP Ministries and driving requirements of DCS regulatory contract, and provide a 60-month safe driving record (MVR) from Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Five (5) year driving record (MVR) from Department of Motor Vehicles can have: 1) No revocation or suspension of their license; 2) no DUI’s (Driving Under the Influence) and/or DWI’s (Driving While Intoxicated); 3) no at fault accidents; 4) no more than two (2) moving violations; 5) no more than one (1) excessive speed violation; and 6) no criminal violations.
• Have a safe, reliable vehicle that has adequate heating and cooling, insured at DCS mandated levels, and may be used to transport children in the event the agency vehicle is unavailable. (Auto insurance meeting DCS minimum coverage requirements: Injury per person: $100,000, Injury per accident: $300,000, and Property damage: $25,000.)
• Ability to utilize own or agency vehicle, including 15 passenger van, for transporting children, etc. (Mileage is reimbursed by agency when using personal vehicle).
• Must pass mandatory drug screen as required by company policy, pre-employment and random.
• Successfully obtain, or be, First Aid and CPR certified and be willing and able to keep certifications current.
• Able to perform various physical tasks, including but not limited to the following:
• Lift or isolate a child between the ages of 0-18 years (may require physical strength to separate two or more fighting children).
• Human Resource package completed.
• Obtain medical release/permission to fulfill all physical tasks should any health issue develop or emerge.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Frequent standing, writing, and computer usage.
• Able to lift, up to 50 lbs., run short distances to retrieve small children, walk distances with children, climb stairs, and install/remove various child safety seats in vehicle.
• Sitting for extensive periods of time.
• Kneel, bend, stoop and lift freely and without risk of injury as needed to assist children in and out of a vehicle, interact with children, etc.
• Able to run short distances to retrieve small children, walk distances with children, climb stairs, and interact with children, etc.
• Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Have the physical strength to freely lift and without risk of injury up to 50lbs. to assist children in and out of a vehicle and install/remove various child safety seats in vehicle. As well as to restrain, lift or isolate a child between the ages of 0-18 years (may require physical strength to separate two or more fighting children).
• Have manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills
