Carson Springs Food Service Helper

Position Description

The individual filling this position is responsible for contributing to the mission, vision, and ministries of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board by fulfilling the following duties, functions, and responsibilities.

Title: Food Service Helper Team: Conference Centers

Group: Mission Support Work Location: Conference Center

General Classification: Ministry Assistant (Non-Exempt) Part-time

Immediate Supervisor: Food Service Coordinator

Principal Function: Ensure excellent guest experiences in the dining room by maintaining high levels of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room, including tables, chairs, floors, food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, and dishes. Assist with food preparation for meals.

Essential Functions: (Employee must be spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally able to fulfill these assignments and tasks to fill this position.)

1. Conduct assigned ministry with “Christ-Like Servant Spirit,” guided by TBMB mission, priorities, strategies, and goals.

2. Contribute to all phases of responsibilities to the Mission and Objectives of the organization.

3. Exercise discipline to complete tasks and work alone with general supervision.

4. Provide support and assistance to assigned group and other groups within the organization, while building and maintaining positive working relationships.

5. Work overtime and irregular hours, as necessary.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

6. Assist other kitchen staff in cleaning, sanitizing and organization of kitchen.

7. Practice proper sanitation and safety guidelines

8. Serve and interact with guests during meals.

9. Provide impeccable customer service to guests and other staff members.

10. Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.

Physical Requirements for Individual in Position:

1. Frequently walks extended distances, stands, and sits, bends, squats, crawls, reaches, kneels, balances, pushes and pulls.

2. Frequently lifts and carries up to 34 pounds, occasionally lifts, and carries to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend and stand for extended periods of time.

3. Work with chemicals and fumes while using cleaners.

4. Position requires being around moving machinery and cooking equipment, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity.

Preferred Qualifications for Applicants:

Credentials and experience:

1. Education: HS diploma, G.E.D., or currently attending high school

2. Experience: Some related experience

3. Certification: ServSafe food handler required (immediately upon employment)

Knowledge and Skills:

4. Understanding and knowledge of a functioning kitchen

5. Ability to work in high-energy and demanding environment.

6. Ability to follow directions.

7. Ability to work in a team environment.
