BGCP is currently searching for a Front Desk Assistant – CareOregon Club. Reporting directly to the Club Director, the Front Desk Assistant serves as the first point of contact for members, families, and guests at the Club, providing a warm, organized, and professional front-of-house experience. The Front Desk Assistant is responsible for accurately maintaining membership records, sharing information about Boys & Girls Club programs and services, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Club. This is an hourly position with a starting wage of $17.50 per hour and does not have direct responsibility for staff supervision. The ideal individual is highly organized, takes pride in presenting a professional environment, and communicates effectively at the workplace. BGCP staff receive a significant amount of professional development training each year, gaining valuable experience in youth development along with administrative and customer service skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

Front Desk & Member Services

• Accurately enter members into the club membership management system.
• Acknowledge and greet everyone who enters and leaves the Club's facilities.
• Provide detailed descriptions of Boys & Girls Club programs, services, facility features, hours of operation, and maintain membership accounts.
• Answer the phone promptly and actively promote the Club and its services and programs.
• Maintain eye contact when addressing external and internal guests.
• Handle guests' questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
• Provide accurate, appropriate, and immediate responses to all guest requests, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
• Accept payments and complete appropriate paperwork associated with payments.

Club Operations & Environment

• Maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked, and well-organized work area.
• Develop the ability to work without constant direct supervision and remain at an assigned post for extended periods of time.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
• Regularly attend, participate in, and support training and staff meetings for the Club.
• Communicate to supervisor(s) any occurrences involving staff or guests in the Club that require attention.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records, including attendance tracking, reports, and grant paperwork.
• Handle other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Club Director and other members of the club leadership team.

Youth Development & Member Support

• Contribute to the creation of the overall Club's climate for youth development.
• Provide everyday guidance to members and serve as a role model for youth.
• Work collaboratively with other staff members to meet program goals and organizational outcomes.
• Provide guidance and role modeling for members to ensure a safe and positive environment for youth.

Position Requirements

• Provide role model values, expectations, and exceptional youth development skills at all times.
• Support and collaborate with the Club leadership team to promote a consistent and impactful Club experience for all youth and teens.
• Communicate with parents, program partners, and stakeholders to ensure strong relationships and a safe Club.
• Participate in the collection of data regarding program delivery, quality, and outcomes.
• Possess a strong understanding of and adhere to organizational policies and procedures, with the ability to demonstrate good judgment when unexpected situations arise.
• May need to handle stressful incidents that occur in the daily course of duties.
• All BGCP employees are Mandated Reporters and must report any suspected child abuse or neglect to their direct supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Knowledge of youth and teen development principles and practices.
• Ability to consistently meet schedules and deadlines, and maintain consistent attendance.
• Ability to be punctual and adhere to a set work schedule established by position expectations and site needs.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently without direct supervision.
• Driver's license (if over 21) and ability to drive Club vans a plus.
• Consistent work schedule preferred.
• One year of experience preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

• Minimal travel may be required for youth related field trips from time to time.
• Physical/Sensory Demands: Fast-paced working environment with extensive computer usage and online engagement. Must be willing to build inclusive relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels within the organization and external partners. Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant reaching, handling, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. High volume of work and strict adherence to workload may be stressful.
• Special Provisions: Occasional work outside of normal business hours, such as weekends and evenings, required.
