Job Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Cardiac Care Tech is fully engaged in providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship by assisting licensed personnel in providing nursing care of arterial venous sheath removal and other procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

1. Performs arterial and venous sheath removal post cardiac and radiology procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. 
2. Maintains and documents care of the puncture site post sheath removal under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
3. Performs quality EKG tracing and performs Stat EKG's when requested.
4. Collects, records, and reports accurate patient information.
5. Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the health care team and promotes effective team functioning.
6. Utilizes Health First computer systems with regard to order inquiry and patient documentation.
7. Utilizes secondary skill as a monitor technician as needed; initiates patient set-up, maintains monitor equipment, runs rhythm strips and places in designated place in patient's record, and accurately identifies and reports arrhythmias.
8. Provides relief and assistance to the HUC as needed.
9. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patient care.
10. Uses and cares for equipment and supplies economically.
11. Provides service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences.
12. Contributes to the patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction score for the department/medical center and/or written customer compliments as well as consistent performance of purposeful rounding.

Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: 

1. Must have current Florida certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT-B.
2. Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

1. Ability to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language. 
2. Ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding. 
3. Ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities. 
4. Ability to respond appropriately to emergent situations. 
5. Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course preferred. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
• May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
